Fall 2024 Blood Drive

Huskies aren’t afraid of hard work – we roll up our sleeves and get the job done!

For more than ten years, we’ve partnered with the American Red Cross to host some very successful blood drives. On September 4th and 5th we are doing it again in the MUB Ballroom from 10 AM-4 PM. At our most successful drive in recent years, we worked together to collect 210 pints of blood. It is heartening to know that together we have accomplished so much good. In light of the nationwide blood shortage, we are setting a goal to go even further this time!

So Huskies, it’s time to make an appointment, roll up your sleeve, and give blood. To schedule your appointment or to learn more, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.

Completion of a RapidPass online health history questionnaire is encouraged to help speed up the donation process. To get started, follow the instructions at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or use the Blood Donor App.

A blood donor card, driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.

Support Michigan Tech Athletics!

At Michigan Tech, we’re not just about football, basketball, hockey, and volleyball; we’re about fostering a vibrant and inclusive community where everyone has a place to belong. Our games aren’t just about winning; they’re about celebrating the spirit of competition, camaraderie, and the pure joy of sports.

Support your Tech Traditions!

K-Day typically sees around 3,500-4,000 students participate, so we can’t host it on our own! We rely on student volunteers to assist with tasks such as set-up, check-in, bag distribution, risk management, and food monitoring.

Volunteers are asked to check in for their shift five minutes early at the Student Leadership and Involvement table near the park entrance,

*Note that if you have classes from 8am-Noon of K-Day, you can not sign up for those shifts as this event does not excuse you from attending your classes.

Support your Community!

Help empower your community by volunteering for our voter registration drive! Your time and effort makes a huge difference in ensuring that every voice is heard and every vote counts. Whether you’re helping to register new voters, providing information, or supporting logistics, your contribution is vital. Join us in making democracy accessible to all Michigan Tech Huskies!

Support Parade of Nations!

Since 1989, the Houghton and Hancock communities have been celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the Keweenaw through the Parade of Nations and the Multicultural Festival that follows. We are excited to continue that tradition in 2024 with a new route!

This year’s theme is Holidays From Around the World and we need your help to celebrate! Volunteers are the driving force behind this event. They help with event set up, walk in the parade, serve as parade marshals, and provide support at the multicultural festival. Explore the volunteer positions and shifts available and sign up for the one that best fits your interests!
