Get Involved: 30 Ways in the First 66 Days Challenge

The 30 Ways in the First 66 Days Challenge has begun, and it’s a great opportunity to dive into the Michigan Tech experience! Whether you’re new to campus or just looking to get more involved, this challenge is your invitation to make the most of your first weeks of the semester.

The objective is to complete 30 activities within the first 66 days of the semester. Each activity is designed to help you connect, explore, and grow: from connecting with your academic advisor to cheering on the Pep Band, trying a pasty, or attending a HuskyLEAD workshop.

Here’s how you participate:

  • Complete all 30 activities by October 31st
  • Once you’ve completed all 30, stop by MUB 112 to claim your prize.

If it’s helpful, you can track your completion using our printable checklist.

For completing the challenge, you’ll receive:

  • A Michigan Tech bucket hat
  • An exclusive 30 Ways In 66 sticker!

Start With 10: Kickstart Your Service at Michigan Tech

Start With 10 is officially underway, and it’s a great way to kick off your semester by volunteering in the community!

Start With 10 challenges students who are new to GivePulse to complete 10 hours of community service to start off the Fall semester.

Here’s how you can participate:

  • Login to GivePulse using your MTU login
  • Complete 10 hours of community service (between 8/25 – 10/31)
  • Log those hours on GivePulse
  • Submit all hours by October 31st

Once you’ve reached the 10 hour mark, you will receive an email from Student Leadership & Involvement to claim your prizes:

  • A Michigan Tech fanny pack
  • An exclusive Start With 10 sticker!

To be eligible, you must be “new” to GivePulse and have created your GivePulse account since November 1, 2024.

Homecoming Team and Court Registration Open Now!

It’s that amazing time of the fall semester—Homecoming! This year’s theme, Where the Wild Things Are, is all about Husky spirit, friends, and a little bit of wild fun. Homecoming runs Sunday, September 14 through Saturday, September 20, but the real heart of the celebration is you—your team and your court.

Whether you join with your student organization, your residence hall, or just a group of friends, forming a Homecoming team is the best way to experience the week. Teams can compete or simply participate for fun, but either way, you’ll get to show off your Husky pride while making unforgettable memories.

And don’t forget about Homecoming Court! Court is a tradition that recognizes leaders, doers, and spirited Huskies who bring energy to campus. If you want to represent your fellow students and lead the celebration, make sure to register.

Applications for LeaderShape Catalyst Are Open!

The Fall 2025 session of Catalyst™ will be held on Saturday, September 13th from 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM in Room G42 in Wadsworth Hall. All participants will receive free workshop materials, lunch, and a gift. Please RSVP by the end of day on Sunday, September 7th so we can ensure we have adequate food and supplies for all participants.

What is Catalyst?

Catalyst™ is a great entry into the LeaderShape® community. It is a one-day program focused on developing your own authentic path, connecting to groups and causes you care about, and committing to a plan to be a catalyst for yourself and the groups you’re part of.

Throughout the program you’ll consider powerful questions that move you towards action:

Am I on the right path? Who do I want to be? How can I connect with other like-minded individuals? In small-group dialogue, large group interaction, and personal reflection, you’ll learn alongside others who also want to start something extraordinary.


Keweenaw Day

Get ready to search high and low at K-Day next Friday! K-Day runs from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Chassell Centennial Park. Shuttles will run to and from the Rozsa Center starting at 12:30 PM. 

We’ve got a lineup of fun activities from mouthwatering snacks to satisfy your cravings, to games and adventures that will keep you on the move, the day is packed with fun. And keep your eyes open—there will be some water activities to help you cool off before heading off to your next discovery. Bring your sense of adventure and get ready to explore!

Want to take part in some of the more adventurous activities? You’ll need to sign our liability waiver. Complete it ahead of time, save the email verification to show a K-Day volunteer, and you’ll get a wristband to join in. Under 18? A parent or guardian will need to complete the Sponsored Programs Release, Waiver of Liability, and Assumption of Risk Form for Minors and send it to activities@mtu.edu. Minors can stop by the Student Leadership and Involvement check-in table to get their wristband.

Looking to get more involved? K-Day isn’t just about exploring! There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and help make this tradition a success. Whether it’s assisting with check-in or lending a hand throughout the day, volunteering is a great way to meet people, support campus life, and be part of the action. Sign up on GivePulse!

Parade of Nations Volunteering

Volunteer for the 36th Annual Parade of Nations
Saturday, September 20, 2025 | 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM

The 36th annual Parade of Nations is coming up soon, and volunteers are needed to help make it a success. This year’s theme is “Games Around the World,” and the event celebrates the cultural diversity of the Keweenaw through a lively parade and a multicultural food festival at Dee Stadium.

Volunteering is a great way to get involved on campus, meet new people, and be part of one of Michigan Tech’s most cherished traditions. There are a variety of roles available, so whether you want to help behind the scenes or walk in the parade, there’s something for everyone.

Volunteer roles include:

  • Parade support marshals
  • Banner and flag carriers
  • Kids Corner supervisors
  • Festival floaters
  • Street barricade monitors
  • Chinese Dragon participants
  • Setup and cleanup support

Lineup begins at 10:00 AM and the parade starts at 11:00 AM, beginning at the library and ending at Dee Stadium. Volunteer shifts are available throughout the day, ranging from early morning to mid-afternoon.

Robert’s Rules of Order can make meetings more effective, but only when everyone understands how to use them. Join us for HuskyLEAD: Robert’s Rules 101, an engaging, interactive workshop that demystifies this widely recognized system for running orderly, productive meetings. Whether you’re leading an organization or simply want to better understand parliamentary procedure, this session will give you the essential tools to participate in or conduct meetings with confidence, clarity, and fairness.

Join the MLK Day Planning Committee!

The MLK Day Planning Committee is looking for students and staff to join the team for this year’s celebration. We’re hoping to grow the committee and bring in new voices to help shape meaningful and engaging programming for the campus community.

Women’s Soccer Club Practice

Looking to level up your game and meet an amazing group of teammates?

The Michigan Tech Women’s Soccer Club is your home turf! We welcome players of all skill levels—whether you’re a seasoned striker or just picking up the sport, there’s a spot for you.

Join us for practices every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on the Upper Soccer Field, where we focus on skill-building, teamwork, and fun. For those craving competition, we offer a chance to represent Tech on our competitive 11v11 travel team as we take on other universities.

Our games are approaching quickly, and currently, we are looking for players to travel with us on August 30th to Harbor Springs for an exciting match against Hillsdale College. Come kick it with us—we can’t wait to meet you on the pitch!

2025 Fall Career Fest and Career Fair

Career Fair season is underway!

Upcoming events include Michigan-Based Employers Day (Sept. 9), General Industry Day (Sept. 11), and Career Services Partner Fest (Sept. 22). Stop by Husky Plaza between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sept. 9, 11, and 22 to chat with recruiters and industry reps.

Career Fair is Tuesday, Sept. 23 from noon to 5 p.m. at the SDC, and Interview Day takes place across campus on Wednesday, Sept. 24. More information is available on the Career Services website.

Free Student Rush Tickets to Charlie Berens LIVE at the Rozsa

He’s back to the Keweenaw by popular demand! There are Free Michigan Tech Student Rush Tickets available to see Charlie Berens: Working It All Out Presented by Visit Keweenaw and the Rozsa Center on Saturday, September 20 at 5 and 9 p.m. While public tickets are sold out, Michigan Tech Students and a guest can still catch his sold-out show!

Charlie Berens is a comedian, New York Times bestselling author, Emmy-winning journalist, musician, and creator of The Manitowoc Minute. With his laugh-out-loud take on Midwestern comedy, he has amassed over 9 million followers. In 2017, Charlie began hosting his weekly comedic online news show, The Manitowoc Minute. Since then, Charlie’s been creating Midwest-focused sketch comedy videos on his social media platforms. He’s also traveled the country with three sold-out stand-up comedy tours.

Lace up your Shoes for the Annual 5K POW/MIA RUN

The community is invited to come together in support of our local veterans at the upcoming
Annual Pow/MIA Memorial 5k Run being held at 9am Saturday September 13th at the ROTC
Building on the Michigan Tech campus. The Arnold Air Society, a Michigan Tech registered
student organization, sponsors this event to honor and remember our nation’s Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action. This event also raises awareness and support for the men and women who have bravely served our country. Participants of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join – whether you run, jog or walk, your presence helps carry forward the spirit of remembrance and gratitude.

All the proceeds raised from the event will go to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Copper Ingot
Post No. 4624 in Hubbell and will be used to help local veterans in need.
The route will start at the ROTC building, go to the Portage Lift Bridge and return. Following the run, there will be a prize for 1st place male and female as well as a raffle for other prizes. The first 50 participants registered will receive a T-shirt.
The cost of the run is $20 and registration is now open. Please scan the QR code provided

Michigan Tech ACHA Men’s Club Hockey Tryouts

The Michigan Tech Wolfpack ACHA men’s hockey club will be hosting tryouts throughout the week and into the weekend. If interested, please reference to graphic for information on tryout times, locations, and dates. The Wolfpack is a student organization that strives to provide MTU students to continue to play hockey at a competitive level, while still keeping school as the main priority. We look forward to seeing you out on the ice!

Support Keweenaw Day!

K-Day, short for Keweenaw Day, is an annual tradition at Michigan Tech held on the Friday of the week of Labor Day. It is a registered student organization fair with around 200 groups in attendance. Each year on K-Day, classes release at noon so our students can learn about ways to get involved and connected at Tech.  K-Day typically sees around 3,500-4,000 students participate, so be sure to check out this amazing event so you don’t miss out!

Support Career Services’ Career Fest!

Join us for Michigan Tech’s Career Fest—a dynamic, outdoor recruiting event held under tents on the campus mall. Volunteers play a key role in creating a welcoming and successful experience for visiting employers and students.

Tasks may include setting up or tearing down tables, chairs, tents, and power connections, as well as assisting employers with booth setup. This is a great opportunity to gain event experience, connect with employers, and be part of one of campus’s largest annual events.
