K-Day on Friday at the SDC!
Get ready to search high and low at K-Day this Friday! K-Day runs from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, now in the Multipurpose Room of the SDC. The rain, wind, and cold can’t stop this tradition!
There will be two shuttle routes starting at 12:30 PM and running until 5 PM.
- Shuttle Route 1 will pick up and drop off at the Memorial Union Building, Douglass Houghton Hall, East Hall, and the SDC.
- Shuttle Route 2 will pick up and drop off at McNair Hall/Hillside, Wadsworth Hall, Memorial Union Building, and the SDC.
We’ve got a lineup of fun activities from mouthwatering snacks to satisfy your cravings, to games and adventures that will keep you on the move, the day is packed with fun.. Bring your sense of adventure and get ready to explore!
Want to take part in some of the more adventurous activities? You’ll need to sign our liability waiver. Complete it ahead of time, save the email verification to show a K-Day volunteer, and you’ll get a wristband to join in. Under 18? A parent or guardian will need to complete the Sponsored Programs Release, Waiver of Liability, and Assumption of Risk Form for Minors and send it to activities@mtu.edu. Minors can stop by the Student Leadership and Involvement check-in table to get their wristband.

RSO Re-Registration and Training Reminder
Every year, Registered Student Organizations are required to re-register their organization to maintain their registered status. Re-registration opened on August 4th. Required officers (President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Advisor) must complete the training on Canvas. Your organization’s president must also complete the re-registration form on Involvement Link. All officer training and the re-registration form must be completed by September 22, 2025, by 8:00 AM. Failure to complete your training on time will result in a decrease in your organization’s budget for this academic year and a potential loss of privileges granted to registered groups. Please see the schedule below:
- You will receive 100% of your allocation if registered by 09/22/25.
- You will receive 90% of your allocation if registered by 09/26/25.
- You will receive 75% of your allocation if registered by 10/3/25.
- You will receive 0% of your allocation if registered after 10/10/25.
Please note: All officers and advisors will be removed from the Canvas training before Re-registration, so the training can be updated and old officers removed. All current officers and advisors will be re-added to the new training at the beginning of re-registration. Every officer and advisor must complete the training every year during Re-registration.

Start With 10 is officially underway, and it’s a great way to kick off your semester by volunteering in the community!
Start With 10 challenges students who are new to GivePulse to complete 10 hours of community service to start off the Fall semester.
Here’s how you can participate:
- Login to GivePulse using your MTU login
- Complete 10 hours of community service (between 8/25 – 10/31)
- Log those hours on GivePulse
- Submit all hours by October 31st
Once you’ve reached the 10 hour mark, you will receive an email from Student Leadership & Involvement to claim your prizes:

Parade of Nations Volunteering
Volunteer for the 36th Annual Parade of Nations
Saturday, September 20, 2025 | 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
The 36th annual Parade of Nations is coming up soon, and volunteers are needed to help make it a success. This year’s theme is “Games Around the World,” and the event celebrates the cultural diversity of the Keweenaw through a lively parade and a multicultural food festival at Dee Stadium.
Volunteering is a great way to get involved on campus, meet new people, and be part of one of Michigan Tech’s most cherished traditions. There are a variety of roles available, so whether you want to help behind the scenes or walk in the parade, there’s something for everyone.
Volunteer roles include:
- Parade support marshals
- Banner and flag carriers
- Kids Corner supervisors
- Festival floaters
- Street barricade monitors
- Chinese Dragon participants
- Setup and cleanup support
Lineup begins at 10:00 AM and the parade starts at 11:00 AM, beginning at the library and ending at Dee Stadium. Volunteer shifts are available throughout the day, ranging from early morning to mid-afternoon.

Lace up your Shoes for the Annual 5K POW/MIA RUN
The community is invited to come together in support of our local veterans at the upcoming
Annual Pow/MIA Memorial 5k Run being held at 9am Saturday September 13th at the ROTC
Building on the Michigan Tech campus. The Arnold Air Society, a Michigan Tech registered
student organization, sponsors this event to honor and remember our nation’s Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action. This event also raises awareness and support for the men and women who have bravely served our country. Participants of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join – whether you run, jog or walk, your presence helps carry forward the spirit of remembrance and gratitude.
All the proceeds raised from the event will go to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Copper Ingot
Post No. 4624 in Hubbell and will be used to help local veterans in need.
The route will start at the ROTC building, go to the Portage Lift Bridge and return. Following the run, there will be a prize for 1st place male and female as well as a raffle for other prizes. The first 50 participants registered will receive a T-shirt.
The cost of the run is $20 and registration is now open. Please scan the QR code provided

Portage Lake Golf Tournament to Benefit Chassell Fire Department
On Saturday, September 27th, golfers will gather at Portage Lake Golf Course for a special tournament supporting the Chassell Fire Department. The event begins with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start and promises a fun filled day on the course while raising money for a worthy cause.
The entry fee is $75 per person or $300 per team of four, with all proceeds going directly to the Chassell Fire Department. Players can expect 18 holes of golf, plenty of friendly competition, and the chance to give back to local heroes who dedicate their time and energy to keeping the community safe.
There will be prizes for the winning team along with fun mini games throughout the round. The event will also have silent auction and raffle tables filled with great items. This event is being put on by the brothers of the Sigma Rho fraternity.
Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just looking for a fun way to spend a Saturday, the golf tournament is open to all. Teams are encouraged to register early to secure their spot in this exciting community event.

Explore Biomedical Engineering with BMES
The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is a national professional organization, and our Michigan Tech chapter is a student-led group dedicated to helping students explore biomedical innovation, professional development, and community building. Whether you’re majoring in biomedical engineering or simply curious about the field, our chapter offers a welcoming space to learn, connect, and grow.
We meet bi-weekly in ChemSci 104 and host a variety of events throughout the year. Past activities have included What Can I Do with a Biomed Degree?, SolidWorks Tutorial, Career Fair Prep, BME Applications in Prosthetics, Biomedical Robotics, and company tours—including a trip to the Twin Cities to visit Boston Scientific and other medical technology firms.

Railroad Night
You are invited to attend the longest-running tradition of the Rail Transportation Program (RTP), Railroad Night and the cornerstone of the RTP’s commitment to bringing together interested students, industry, and faculty at Michigan Tech.
Enjoy a relaxed dinner, free of charge, with an atmosphere conducive to conversation. Students are encouraged to pursue internships and full-time positions with a host of industry representatives—many of them returning Tech graduates!

Support Keweenaw Day!
K-Day, short for Keweenaw Day, is an annual tradition at Michigan Tech held on the Friday of the week of Labor Day. It is a registered student organization fair with around 200 groups in attendance. Each year on K-Day, classes release at noon so our students can learn about ways to get involved and connected at Tech. K-Day typically sees around 3,500-4,000 students participate, so be sure to check out this amazing event so you don’t miss out!
Support Career Services’ Career Fest!
Join us for Michigan Tech’s Career Fest—a dynamic, outdoor recruiting event held under tents on the campus mall. Volunteers play a key role in creating a welcoming and successful experience for visiting employers and students.
Tasks may include setting up or tearing down tables, chairs, tents, and power connections, as well as assisting employers with booth setup. This is a great opportunity to gain event experience, connect with employers, and be part of one of campus’s largest annual events.
