Updating RSO E-Board Officers on Involvement Link

In anticipation of the 2024-2025 academic year, please make sure the officers of your organization are up to date on Involvement Link. To update the organization’s roster, your president will need to complete the E-Board Position Update Form. A form will need to be completed for each required officer (President, Secretary, Treasurer) or advisor change. Non-required officer positions can be edited directly on Involvement Link by any current officer.

Your officers listed on Involvement Link will be used for access to and communication about the yearly required RSO Re-registration and Training. Failure to update officers is the leading cause of missed deadlines and budget deductions. As such, please make changes as soon as possible and no later than July 21st, 2024.

If you are no longer an RSO officer but receive SLI emails then the organization’s roster on Involvement Link is out-of-date. Please notify your new officers immediately.

Rideshare Interest Survey

Transportation Services is looking for feedback on a potential premium TripShot feature! The rideshare feature is similar to Uber and Lyft where users can schedule pick ups and drop offs in the community. Please share your opinions here!

LeaderShape Survey

Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI) has begun the scheduling process for our LeaderShape Institute! The LeaderShape Institute engages participants in a transformative experience and inspires them to create a just, caring, and thriving world. The experience is created to provide time and space for people to have conversations that matter. In these conversations and through intentional instruction and challenge, participants have time to explore their personal values in the context of community.

This program is delivered as a 4-day immersive experience. The purpose of the program is to produce a breakthrough in the leadership capacity of participants and facilitators which is demonstrated on their campus, in their community, or within their organization. Not a typical leadership retreat, the Institute is grounded in helping individuals identify the values they hold that lead to making a difference in the communities around them.

Due to this year’s academic scheduling, we cannot hold the Institute at our regular time in January. So, SLI wants to know when you think is the best time to hold this year’s Institute! Please fill out the survey and let us know what dates work best for you. We also would appreciate your input on alternative date options that you believe might work better. Thank you for your input, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Experience the Spirit of leather-ball Cricket at MTU and Upper Peninsula!

Dear MTU Members, Families and All Sports Enthusiasts in Upper Peninsula!

Join us in experiencing the vibrant spirit of cricket! We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new initiative aimed at integrating the rich culture of leather ball cricket into our community life at MTU and the Upper Peninsula. We dream of having a partnership among local schools, colleges, universities, communities governing bodies and business owners to make the sports of cricket a part of UP culture in the days to come.

How You Can Get Involved

Express your interest by filling out the Google Form provided below and share the news with your friends and family.

Google Form Link: Experience Leather-ball Cricket

We would appreciate it if you could  fill out this form as soon as possible.

Why Cricket?

Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world, after soccer. However, Cricket is more than just a sport; it’s a global phenomenon promoting teamwork, discipline, and cross-cultural understanding. With 108 cricket-playing nations recognized by the ICC, cricket offers a unique avenue for immersive learning.

What We Envision

By introducing leather-ball cricket to the MTU and local community, we aim to enrich our sporting landscape, promote cultural exchange, and foster holistic health and spiritual wellness. We dream to integrate the culture of cricket as a part of holistic education – fostering skills and insights about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and MESH (Media, Ethics, Sociology and Humanity). Let’s turn this vision into reality together!

# Your Support Matters

Your support and involvement are invaluable as we embark on this journey to bring leather ball cricket to MTU and the Upper Peninsula. Fill out the Google Form now and spread the word!

Note [source] that Cricket (in Michigan) was first introduced in Detroit with the establishment of the Peninsula Cricket Club in 1858. In 1908 there was talk of a cricket series between the English Oak and North of England teams along with eight teams in the Copper Country. A year later a cricket club was organized in Negaunee with the intention of league play with teams in the Copper Country from Calumet, Tamarack, Kearsarge, Ahmeek, Quincy, Mohawk, Trimountain, and Painesdale.

Thank you for your support and shining energy!

In gratitude,

Innovative Global Solutions Enterprise is looking for new members!

Innovative Global Solutions enterprise is looking for new members! if you’re interested in learning more about what we do, come join us at our info session Thursday, March 28th!

Joining an enterprise is a great alternative to senior design. It gives members the flexibility to choose the project they work on and it allows them to become more familiarized with the project as the work is spread out over a two-year timeframe. Unlike senior design where students dedicate 15-20 hours a week to project work, with Innovative Global Solutions enterprise, only 3.5 hours/week are required during the first year and 7 hours/week during the second year. Being a part of an enterprise also allows for more team bonding opportunities and the flexibility to experience new teams within the enterprise realm!

Copper Country Cycling Team FrosTRI

What happens if there is no snow? We’ve all been confused with this winter, so it’s hard to predict snow conditions for late March. If we’re low on snow, we’ll remove the ski event and instead do just a bike/run event. We will post updates to this website and email registrants as the date gets closer!

Join the Copper Country Cycling Club (C4) at Michigan Tech for our first winter triathlon! This event will take place at the Swedetown trails. We will start with a ski (classic or skate), followed by a fat bike ride, and finally, a snowshoe!

What?: A winter triathlon at Swedetown trails.

Where?: Swedetown Main Trailhead

When?: Saturday, March 23rd, at 10 am

How much?: It’s free, but we do want you to bring food to the event! We would love to have baked goods, fruit, chips, finger foods, or other food you can see yourself craving after your hard work! We’ll set this all up at the Swedetown Chalet to be feasted upon by race participants.

Donations are appreciated and all profits will support local trail networks!

Event routes and distances (in this order):

  • 14k Nordic ski: Valley trail to Upper Greenstone to reverse Mama Bear, reverse Papa Bear, reverse Baby Bear, Lower Greenstone, Relentless Loop to Pine Ridge Loop, and then Tiger Loop.
  • 10k Fat bike: Fat bike loops 1, 2, 3, and 5.
  • 5k Snowshoe: Bear Paw Snowshoe Short Loop to Bear Paw Snowshoe Long Loop to Valley Trail.

All are welcome! We invite students and community members to come out and enjoy the race!
