Looking to solve real world problems through new development of Deep Learning algorithms?

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is offering post-doctoral fellowships with the Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL). TSL is seeking applicants to participate in a new endeavor in synthetic data generation and testing. The need to develop synthetic methods to develop and test new Deep Learning algorithms is paramount and the proposed work is new and cutting edge.

Why should I apply? You will be given challenging assignments, under the guidance of a DHS TSL mentor, who will provide you with a broad perspective of DHS and TSL, knowledge of cutting edge research, and access to unique facilities.

What will I be doing? As a TSL Post-Doctoral Fellow, you will be a part of a team of TSL staff and researchers focused on a two-fold approach synthetic data generation and testing involving x-ray and millimeter wave regimes.

Where will I be located? Atlantic City, NJ

What are the benefits? As a participant with TSL, you will receive:

•Stipend starting at $80,000

•Health Insurance Allowance

•Relocation Allowance up to $2,000

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) is hosting a research-based challenge for undergraduate students to research a partner supporting NASA’s upcoming Mars 2020 launch, learn about the partner’s capabilities, and discuss why that partner is necessary for the mission.

Prizes:

1st place: $5,000 scholarship

2nd place: $3,000 scholarship

3rd place: $1,000 scholarship

The deadline for this competition is March 31, 2020, and winners will be announced in early May.

21st Annual NMU Programming Contest

Students are invited to attend The Twenty-First Annual Northern Michigan University Invitational Programming Contest to be held on Saturday 28 March 2020 from 12:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on the campus of Northern Michigan University (Marquette Co, MI).  Lunch will be served at 11:00 A.M. Dinner will be served immediately following the contest.

Twenty-One years ago, the computer science students at NMU thought it might be a good idea to hold a contest every spring to provide additional practice for the ACM contest held in the fall. The format of this contest is strongly based on the ACM model.

There is no entrance fee for your students to compete in this competition.  The contest, the fun, the food, and everything else are all free!

There is no restriction on grad student participation; all registered students are welcome to compete.  However, grad student teams are ranked separately from undergrad teams.
