The Michigan Tech Departments of Applied Computing and Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MMET) have announced the addition of three graduate certificates in mechatronics.
The certificates aim to prepare technically sound specialists with the industrial robotics and automation skills needed to maintain and monitor existing robots, help develop future technologies, and educate users on implementation and applications.
Upon successful completion of the three certificates, eligible students receive the FANUC industrial certificates “Material HandlingPro” and “iRVision-2D”. All three certificates can be fully applied to an MS in Mechatronics at Michigan Tech.
The Automation and Controls in Mechatronic Systems certificate aims to develop professional skills in advanced programmable logic controllers, industrial sensors/actuators, human-machine interfacing, and more.
The Fluid Power in Mechatronic Systems certificate leads to expertise in both hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power systems, which are integral to the automation that enables robotic applications. Students prepare for professional certification in three fluid power specialist categories.
In the Industrial Robotics certificate, students develop skills and competencies in operating, programming, and troubleshooting FANUC industrial robots. Students operate industrial-scale FANUC robots, learn industry standards for Roboguide simulation software, and more.
