The Michigan Technological University Mobile Lab was a featured exhibitor at the 2014 Battery Show – “The Expo for Advanced Batteries” – and the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo September 16-18 at Novi, Michigan, USA.
The lab was set up indoors at the Battery Show in Novi, where Professor Steve Hackney (MSE), instructor Trever Hassell (ECE), Mobile Lab operations manager Chris Davis, and Mobile Lab director Jeremy Worm provided hands-on seminars to conference and show attendees.
From there, Mobile Lab operations engineer Henry Schmidt and Mobile Lab graduate research assistant Tim Okkema provided educational demonstrations at the Young Urban Intellectual Summit in Detroit. APS Labs director and Professor Jeffrey Naber (MEEM), Worm and Davis delivered two, two-and-a-half-day, hands-on professional development courses for John Deere in Dubuque, Iowa.
Finally, Hackney, Associate Professor Wayne Weaver (ECE), Associate Professor John Beard (MEEM), Mobile Lab graduate research assistant Rachel McFarland, Worm, Davis and Schmidt delivered a week’s worth of hands-on seminars at Ford.
Through the Mobile Lab (operating inside The Battery Show expo hall), Michigan Tech will offer 140-minute seminars taught by faculty experts, each meant to provide high-level professional development in a hands-on, experimental environment.
Who should attend: Engineers, technicians, professionals interested in electric machines, electrified powertrain systems, embedded controls, CAN-based controller-to-controller communication protocols, and managers who are new to batteries or want to broaden their knowledge in electrified powertrain systems.
