- San Gemini Preservation Studies-Summer Field School in Italy
- Offers students the opportunity to study and travel in Italy where they acquire hands-on experience in restoration and conservation.
- Two sessions are available and focus on different specialties. An intersession focused on travel is also available.
- Session I: June 5 – June 30, 2023 (programs include historic buildings, archaeological ceramics and book binding restoration)
- Intersession: Italy Preservation Tour – July 2 to July 11, 2023
- Session 2: July 17 – August 11, 2023 (programs include paper restoration and painting techniques)

The research project is titled Landfill Mining: Pasts and Futures of Waste Management and starts summer or fall 2023.
This 1-year research position is part of a US Department of Energy-funded team investigating the potential benefits and impacts of “landfill mining.”
The candidate will work with Dr. Jonathan Robins to investigate patterns of landfill development and engage in interdisciplinary research to evaluate the impacts of landfill mining on landfill-adjacent communities.
Landfills and other waste management sites are frequently the causes of environmental and social injustices, yet many waste sites also hold substantial quantities of aluminum and other resources.
New and current students in Social Sciences graduate programs are eligible to apply (IHA, EEP, and Sustainable Communities) as well as current undergraduates applying for accelerated MS degrees in these programs.

The Climate Leaders Academy is a two-semester program with the goal of providing formal climate training and professional development to fellows through direct engagement with national and international climate change frameworks, formalized mentoring and collaboration with a diverse set of institutions. Applications are due March 15, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. CDT.
Climate Leaders Academy Fellows will be entitled to:
- $10,000 stipend ($5,000 per semester)
- Four transferable course credits
- All travel expenses covered (to and from kickoff workshop, climate change conferences, etc.)
- One-on-one mentoring by a Climate Leaders Academy faculty member
- Tuition coverage for Climate Leaders Academy course
