Northern Michigan University is seeking to fill a two-year, full-time, position for an instructor or assistant professor (not tenure-earning) in Natural Resource Management within the Department of Earth, Environmental & Geographical Sciences (EEGS). MiCAN (Michigan Climate Action Network) is seeking a full-time Network Manager to build, support, and coordinate their growing network. This is a full-time position with virtual work options within the state of Michigan. Milkweed Editions, the independent publishing house well known for such books as Braiding Sweetgrass, The Home Place, The Seed Keeper, and Conversations with Birds, is accepting applications for their 12-24 month fellowship where the fellow will “learn the trade of book publishing” catering towards individual strengths, such as concept mapping, design and layout, research, editing, grant-writing, or marketing and public relations. This paid, one- to two-year immersion program is designed to offer the tools, experience, and exposure necessary to pursue a career in book publishing as well as, provide an alternative route to leadership in an industry where the prerequisite to an entry-level position is typically an unpaid internship. Within the US House of Representatives, the Office of the Historian and the Office of Art and Archives have internships available for undergraduate and graduate level students. They are looking for candidates with a background in history, political science, library science, and art history. The interns will spend approximately 24 hours a week working on historical and biographical research, educational content creation and outreach, archival and object processing, object, photo, and record preservation, and curatorial content creation. While the offices are located in Washington D.C. there is potential for in-person, hybrid, or virtual work. This internship is unpaid; however, interns may work with the intern coordinator to accommodate scheduling relating to potential academic or work requirements. The Aquatic Ecologist and Technology Transfer Specialist at the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University and the Institute for Water Research (IWR) is a full‐time, 12-month fixed-term position with 10% research, 20% teaching, 60% extension/outreach, and 10% leadership/service assignment roles. The teaching expectations will include a 3-credit class (to be negotiated with Fisheries and Wildlife leadership) that potentially includes lecture and a lab each academic year. The selected candidate will provide leadership on IWR’s efforts to train users on tools developed for water management. An earned MS in limnology or an allied field (e.g., fisheries, aquatic community ecology, conservation biology) with specialization or experience with inland lakes and rivers is required. As a public affairs specialist at the St. Pete Coastal and Marine Science Center, in Florida, you will work with the United States Geological Survey. This position is responsible for assisting project chiefs to improve communication through development of web pages, social media content and press releases. The public affairs specialist will also host stakeholders and provide technical assistance and training. Public events at the science center will also be the responsibility of this position. - Northen Arizona University’s Sustainable Communities Program seeks a graduate student for a two-year, fully funded graduate assistantship during the 2024-2026 academic years.
- The student will be an integral part of a faculty/student team that is developing a new USDA-NIFA-funded project, “Addressing Barriers to HSI Student Retention through Community Engaged Sustainable Food Systems Education.”
- The Graduate Assistant will work toward an MA degree in Sustainable Communities while helping to coordinate and oversee a team of funded undergraduate interns who will work in Flagstaff public school gardens.
- Because the project focuses on underserved populations, the Graduate Assistant is required to have a high level of Spanish-language fluency.

The Rachel Carson Council is hiring a Research and Policy Associate who is an aspiring, creative, committed and flexible environmental leader at the beginning of their career. The candidate should be willing to help expand and innovate at a small, but growing organization.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in marine or environmental studies, science, history, or political science, or combined with other majors, minors or concentrations in helpful fields such as African American or Women’s Studies, English, journalism, creative writing, public policy is required.
Responsibilities:
- Track proceedings in the House and Senate to help inform RCC’s priorities in the policy agenda; attend legislative hearings, write memos, and send weekly updates to RCC staff regarding relevant issues.
- Write and publish reports, articles, Op-Eds, policy briefs and papers for the RCC on its issues to include placement in other media outlets, journals, magazines, etc.
- Speak publicly for the organization through lectures, workshops, rallies, and in the media.
- Participate in and present to the RCC Campus Network, at RCC conferences, advocacy days, and trainings for RCC Fellows, etc. Work closely under the RCC Director of Policy and Programs to execute events, research, writing, and more.
- Carry out additional tasks as needed and directed by the President & CEO within RCC’s mission.
Pay is $50,000 annually, or commensurate with experience.
