The Mendenhall Postdoctoral Research program works with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program to study coastal systems. One specific opportunity offered is a social science coastal-related fellowship research opportunity. This postdoctoral researcher will help advance fundamental Coastal Change Hazards research, guide and improve coastal hazard assessment capabilities, and advance knowledge of coastal processes to meet the needs of coastal stakeholders around the Nation. The research opportunity will include a focus on assessing social aspects of model predictions in conjunction with the impact of an actual storm event.
There is availability for an Associate Teaching Professor in GIS at University of California, Santa Cruz. This position will entail multiple key roles intended to support a growing geospatial program in the Department of Environmental Studies. These roles include leading a GIS Master’s program, teaching courses for undergraduate, graduate, and professional development in GIS and Spatial Data Science, maintaining the Center for Integrated Spatial Research (CISR) facilities, and supporting research in geospatial research in the department. This full-time position will start in July of 2024.
