Climate and Environment Policy Advisor

Serve as the Governor’s point of contact on environmental issues and, alongside the policy team,
executive office staff, state departments and agencies, and stakeholders, lead the charge on key topics,
pursuing policies, improving programs, and identifying tools that will make the Governor’s vision for a
cleaner, more sustainable Michigan a reality. Responsibilities and focus areas are subject to change
depending on the Governor’s and executive office’s needs.

This individual would be responsible for developing, project management, and making progress to
respond to high-profile emerging issues and address key gaps in the Governor’s agenda including but
not necessarily limited to, climate adaptation and resiliency and climate-smart, sustainable agriculture.

This position works for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and is
detailed within the Governor’s policy division as a Climate and Environment Policy Advisor. The
incumbent manages issues in these areas, especially how they intersect with energy, natural resources,
and agriculture. This position would serve as a policy advisor and project manager on existing and new
initiatives in this issue space.

Environmental Co-Op Position

The Environmental Co-Op is a temporary developmental position assisting in department projects to maintain compliance with environmental permits, perform data analysis and other related environmental requirements. 

This position will work with Ameren in St. Louis, MO.

This opportunity is available for the following timeframes:  May – December 2025 Fall Co-Op

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist department personnel in providing technical support and ownership of environmental programs including NPDES, SPCC, greenhouse gas emissions, waste disposal, remediation, recycling and environmental training and communication.  
  • Assist department personnel in performing inspections related to environmental compliance.  
  • Assist in the environmental permitting process.  
  • Assist writing environmental reports and analyses.  
  • Learn applicable environmental regulations and requirements.  
  • Other developmental projects as assigned. 

Qualifications:

Must be in student status working towards a degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Engineering, Sustainability, or related environmental field from an accredited college or university required.  Cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required, 3.0 or higher is preferred. 

Network Manager

MiCAN (Michigan Climate Action Network) is seeking a full-time Network Manager to build, support, and coordinate their growing network. This is a full-time position with virtual work options within the state of Michigan. MiCAN states that they “serve as the megaphone for the statewide climate movement, and their primary mission is building a well-trained, well-coordinated, strong network of advocates that demand equitable climate action.” This position will work on member services, engagement, administrative operations, and team support. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Sustainability Data Analyst

  • Sustainability Data Analyst
    • This position will work for CVS to support data collection and monitoring of enterprise sustainability initiatives, emissions and energy, plastic, water, waste and other environmental sustainability data. There are two open positions. One will cover the Enterprise Data and the other will support Supply Chain Data.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
    • This position is ideally located in New England, but remote work is negotiable.
