Assistant or Associate Professor Position in Environmental Studies

Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) invites applications for a six-year renewable teaching track position in Environmental Studies, to begin August 1, 2025. IWU seeks to hire a candidate to teach Environmental Studies from a social science perspective, with expertise in a field such as environmental policy, international studies, urban studies/policy, sustainability, or any related field.

The successful applicant will also have duties advising students, supporting student internships, and fostering community engagement that can reduce course load.

Interested applicants should submit:

  • a single PDF file containing a cover letter addressing their qualifications for the position, 
  • curriculum vitae, 
  • a teaching philosophy, 
  • a copy of all academic transcripts, and the names and 
  • the contact information of three professional references. 

Applicants should also submit a separate document describing how their research, teaching, and/or service has provided preparation for contributing to IWU’s commitment to address issues of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and/or other matters of historical marginalization. All materials should be submitted to Amy Aldeman, aaldeman@iwu.edu, with the subject heading “Faculty position in Environmental Studies.” Review of applications will begin November 15, 2024.
