NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR ART PROJECT: The Storyline Project, part of the Pine Mountain Music Festival, is setting up the great collection of stories submitted by thousands of people in Upper Peninsula communities in celebration of their ancestors survival of adversities. These are going up right now at the Rosza Center and Walker Building! If you can help with the display or in other way this week (July 5-9), come by the Rosza or call Mary Wright at 906.361.5548.
The NOSOTROS Student Organization is holding a potluck get together this Saturday, July 9th at the East Houghton Waterfront Park (next to Super 8 motel) beginning at 4:00 pm and going until dusk. We are planning to have games and enjoy the great weather expected for this weekend. You can bring any outdoor games (frisbees, bocce ball, etc.), dominoes, board games, a beach chair, etc.
There are no BBQ facilities, however you are welcome to bring your own grill. We will be playing music to dance or listen to, or you can just hang around, sit by the deck, and meet new friends. We will start eating at 6 pm.

WEEKEND TRIP TO THE PORKIES: Join the Outdoor Adventure Program on a weekend backpacking trip to the Porcupine Mountains! Led by Brian and Tom, this trip will feature one of the great resources in our back yard – the Porkies! The trip leaves the OAP house on Friday July 15th and returns around mid-Sunday July 17th. The park has some incredible vistas, and we’ll probably see quite a few of them including (but not limited to) waterfalls, Lake of the Clouds, and the sights of the wilderness coast of Lake Superior. All skill levels are welcome, with trip leaders who will not only choose the best trails for the group, but take care of the transportation, food, cooking, group gear hauling, permits, and pre-trip info. The total cost of the trip comes to $40, which can be paid when you sign up in the OAP Rental Center. GOLF OUTING: Michigan Tech MBA Association and American Marketing Association of the School of Business and Economics would like to cordially invite you to the 2nd Annual Golf Outing. This golf outing is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 6, 2011 (Reunion Week) from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the University-owned Portage Lake Golf Course. Golfers pay a green fee of $45.00, with Michigan Tech students paying a special fee of $25.00 in order to encourage graduate and undergraduate students participation in the tournament for a chance to win a prize.
The tournament will be a 4-person scramble , with prizes rewarding the first three teams (cash prizes), and the winners of three competitions (longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin). There will be a special prize for the worst performer as well! Raffle tickets will be available for prizes donated by local businesses. The golf outing is being put together for graduate and undergraduate students, faculty and staff, and alumni from ALL departments on campus, as well as for local community members.
Golfers will also receive a swag bag and are highly encouraged to confirm their participation by registering early. Registration forms, once completed, can be sent to the School of Business and Economics with payment for the team or golfer (cash or check). Golfers without a team should still sign up; our plan is to form teams for individual golfers based on their preferences if possible.
