1. Outdoor Adventure Program is Now Hiring for Summer, Fall, and Spring

Looking for undergraduates in any major who are interested in working with others on communications and cultural tasks.

3. GSG Travel Grant Deadline Today!

Been to a conference since last May? Going to one before April 30th? If you are a full time enrolled graduate student you can apply for a GSG Travel Grant to help supplement your costs. Awards of $150 for attending conferences and $250 for presenting either a poster or oral presentation at a conference are available. For more information and to apply, visit:

Your advisor will be asked to confirm that you are a full time enrolled graduate student, you are allowed to participate in the conference and you do not have full funding to cover the costs. Response to this confirmation email is necessary for your application to be considered complete.

The Student Leadership Awards are open for nominations. Deadlines to keep in mind are as follows:

Presidents Award for Leadership, Vice President for Student Affairs and Advancement Award for Service, and the Percy Julian Award deadline for nominations is Friday, March 6 at 5:00 PM.

Exceptional Community Service Project, Exceptional Enthusiasm as a Student Leader, Student Organization of the Year, Exceptional Program of the Year, Clair M Donovan, Student Employee of the Year, Student Organization Advisor of the Year, Most Improved Student Organization, Rising Star of the Year, Exceptional Leadership in Student Governance, and Outstanding Future Alumni deadline for nominations is Friday, March 20 at Noon.

Khana Italian5. Khana Khazana Featuring Italian Cuisine

Khana Khazana, a weekly international lunch will feature Italian cuisine this Friday, February 20 cooked by Hossein Tavakoli ,student of Environmental Engineering department at Michigan Tech.

The main dish is Pasta with chickenIt is a popular dish made of scrumptious baked chicken and creamy pasta mixed with mushroom, cheese and Alfredo Sauce.

(Vegetarian Option Available)

The second dish is Eggplant Gratin. A great side dish made of eggplant, bell pepper, Onion, tomato, Basil and Cheese.

And for dessert is Nescafé MousseIt is a dessert mousse which is a delicious creamy sweet flavored with Coffee.

Serving from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the MUB Food Court. The whole meal is $6.95 which includes a fountain soda or $2.50 for each item.


6. Late Night Programming Presents Comedian, Alex Stone

Come out for some laughs on Friday, February 20 at 10:00 PM in the MUB Ballroom.

Alex Stone’s hard work and determination have led him from his early days as an absurdist joke writer to his current role as one of the most impressive young storytellers in comedy. Alex was just chosen as one of the top 100 comics to appear on the brand new season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and he was also recently selected to participate in the Best of the Midwest competition at the 2013 Gilda’s LaughFest, as well as the 2014 Limestone Comedy Festival. His prolific nature and originality has made him a regular at the Chicago Laugh Factory and has also earned him an appearance on the Independent Film Channel.

9. Reminder: Come Dance Salsa with NOSOTROS

10. Experience Dog-sledding with OAP Sunday

Come experience dog-sledding firsthand this Sunday, Feb. 22, from 1 to 5 PM. The cost is $50 per person, which includes transportation from OAP, instruction and the chance to drive your own team. This opportunity is open to anyone. For questions, contact OAP at 7-2290 or

11. MUB Board Hosting Throwback Pinterest Night
On Tuesday, February 24, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, MUB Commons come join MUB Board for a night of crafts from your childhood days, including bead animal keychains, friendship bracelets, and more! All craft supplies are free and available while supplies last. Feel free to bring some friends, head to the MUB commons and get crafty. So enjoy some time away from your homework and studying with a blast from the past!

12. MUB Board Hosting Campus Feud

On Thursday, February 26 at 8:00 PM, in Fisher 135 join MUB Board for our awesome interactive game show and your chance to WIN up to $200 in cash prizes! The game will play just like Family Feud, with survey answers taken from college students across the US. Looking to end up on stage? Game show contestants will be chosen from the audience during the event. We hope to see you there!

15. HuskyLEAD Session, Unplug and recharge Learn Self Care Techniques and Achieve Balance

Unplug and Recharge! on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 6:00 PM in the Memorial Union Building Ballroom B2 & B3.

Participants attending this session will learn to achieve balance and practice valuable self-care techniques that can be used while at Michigan Tech and in the years that follow. Part of strong leadership is learning about yourself – strengths, weaknesses, and personal values – and how to advance individually and as an organization by using that self-knowledge.

17. Reminder: Student Commission Meeting

Ever notice something about Michigan Tech that could be improved? Have you had a great idea that would have a positive effect on other students? If yes, you are invited and encouraged to join us at the Student Commission meetings. We look to break down the barriers that impede student’s success, and to improve Michigan Tech’s campus environment.

You’ll get the chance to have your ideas heard by staff, faculty, university officials, and most importantly other students. We work together to act on your idea and make changes. Past accomplishments of the Student Commission include:

  • Library Project – The Student Commission received regular updates from Library staff during their 2013-14 project. The Library responded to Student Commission concerns and implemented ideas/suggestions
  • Transportation Services/Facilities Management Updates – Facilities Management is regularly invited to the Student Commission to provide updates, information, and answer any questions the group may have.
  • Tobacco Free Campus – The tobacco free campus policy was instituted in the 2013-14.
  • Michigan Tech App – Improvements (open computers and Dining Hall menus) for the Michigan Tech App have been suggested and completed.
  • Shuttle Service – Collaboration with Facilities Management to improve shuttle service for students
  • Student Commission Website – a website has been created
  • USG and GSG Chairs – The Vice Presidents from USG and GSG will co-chair meetings with the Vice President for Student Affairs
  • Services in Dining Halls – Addressed and resolved issues of services available in dining halls
  • Sustainability on Campus – Recycling continues to be improved and expanded on campus

  • Relocation of Broomball Rinks
  • Designated Memorial Garden
  • Princess Point Rehab and Upgrade
  • Experience Tech Fee Initiative

19. American Red Cross Blood Drive

Please join Greek Life in helping the Red Cross prepare for emergencies by donating blood.

There is currently an urgent need for blood. Winter storms and freezing temperatures have resulted in the cancellation of many blood drives and thousands of uncollected blood and platelet donations. The American Red Cross asks eligible donors to help by donating blood. In addition, all presenting donors will be presented with a FREE T-shirt (while supplies last)!
