It’s almost time for Welcome Week!  Every year, new and returning students are welcomed back to campus with this annual tradition that will get everyone into the Husky Spirit.

Khana Khazana Serving Thai Cuisine

Food from Thailand is featured at today’s Khana Khazana. Serving is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the food truck in the MUB circle across from the Library.

The menu includes:

Pad Kra Pao Neua—Stir Fry Beef with Basil
Yum Pon La Mai—Spicy Fruit Salad
Mon Tod—Fried Sweet Potato

The cost is $6.95 for the full meal.

Keweenaw Color Run Registration Open

It’s back. Get ready for the 2nd Annual Keweenaw Color Run! This event is a time for students, community members, and visitors to come together to celebrate the colorful and diverse community in the Keweenaw! This year, expect more color, more celebration, more course beauty and simply more AWESOME!

Registration is $13 for MTU students and $23 for community members. There will be an additional $5 late fee for week-of registration!

– Wave 1 Start: 10:00AM (Runners & Racewalkers)
– Wave 2 Start: 10:05AM (Runners & Walkers)

**Distance**
Participants will have the option of either participating in the 5K (3.1 Miles) or 2.5K event, details on the course will be released soon! Registration is the same, you just choose what you want to run the day of!

**Wave Start**
For the safety and experience of all participants, we will be instituting a waved start. Please register for the wave that best describes your goal. Wave hopping will be allowed on race day, however hopping into Wave 1 will not entitile you to Chip Timing.

**Chip Timing**
By popular demand, we will offer chip timing to runners who REGISTER in Wave 1. No other waves will get a chip time. This allows us to keep the fun, no stress atmosphere of the event

**Music & Food**
We are upping our game big time here! Live bands, fresh wholesome food. Stay tuned on our page as we announce our live acts!

**Who does it benefit?**
Proceeds will benefit the Barbera Kettle Gundlach Shelter offering a safe place for victims and families of domestic violence, learn more about their mission here: http://www.bkgshelterhome.org/.

Move-in Volunteer Opportunities for Fall 2016

Welcoming new students and their families is one of the most exciting times on campus. Student organizations are invited to help welcome in-coming students during move-in onSaturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21. Your group can sign up for one shift or multiple shifts. This is a great service opportunity for your organization!

Move-In Volunteer Participation Expectations:
•    Remember that you are representing your Student Organization and Michigan Technological University. First impressions are very important to new students and their family members.
•    Wear apparel that represents your Student Organization or Michigan Tech only.
•    Wear clothing that is neat and appropriate (no holes, no hats, and no sunglasses are permitted).
•    Wear comfortable, closed toe shoes (athletic shoes recommended).
•    Volunteers may not recruit or pass out invitations/flyers of any kind.
•    Volunteers must help everyone, not just the people you might want to get to know.
•    Please remember that some students and families may not want your help. Please be considerate and ask if they would like assistance first, before grabbing items.
•    Arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in at the Wadsworth Hall Reception Desk in order to get to your assigned location on time for the start of your shift.
•    Work with University, Orientation, and Housing and Residential Life staffs who are also assigned to assist with the move-in process. We are one big team on move-in day.

Registration is Open for the Breakers to Bridge Paddle Festival

A 10 mile paddle race to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the Outdoor Adventure Program will take place on Saturday, September 10 with other activities happening on the 9th and 11th.

Registration is $35 for a single and $55 for tandem/canoes. Price for both categories increase $10 the week of event. Registration includes all aid stations, support on the course, a T-Shirt for each paddler, Finisher Medalian, Timing, Participant Shuttle, and more!

K-Day 2016 Application Now Available

K-Day, short for Keweenaw Day, is an annual tradition at Michigan Tech held on the Friday of the week of Labor Day. Each year on K-Day, classes release at noon so our students can celebrate their beautiful surroundings in the Keweenaw Peninsula and learn about ways to get involved and connected at Tech.
