It’s time for RSO Re-registration and Training!
From now until October 2nd at 5 pm, each Registered Student Organization must re-register in order to maintain active status. The president of each organization is required to complete the re-registration steps listed in Involvement Link and all officers and MTU advisors are required to participate in mandatory training. Instruction for completing your training can be found here and all questions may be directed to email@example.com.

SWE’s Evening with Industry
EWI is an annual event hosted by the Michigan Tech Society of Women Engineers the day before the Fall Career Fair. EWI provides a relaxed environment where students and corporate representatives can interact before the career fair.
The event is open to all Michigan Tech University students, who will have the opportunity to network with company representatives while learning about numerous and diverse companies and the internship, co-op, and full-time employment opportunities they offer. These employers target Michigan Tech in their recruiting efforts and are eager to meet and interact with top talented students.
MUB- Minute to Win it
MUB board will be collaborating with the SLI office to bring the students
and homecoming teams the “Minute to Win it” event.
Students can put their skills to the test by trying to complete tasks in
under a minute. Prizes will be given away to the top 3 teams.

RSO Room Reservation Information
Due to the current Health & Safety level on campus and the ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, many of our buildings have adjusted their options for room reservations this semester.
- Reservations are for the fall semester only
- reserved on a first-come, first-served basis
- reservation requests for the spring semester will be accepted beginning on November 1, 2020
- Ballroom is available after 6 p.m. Monday–Friday and on weekends during normal operating hours
- offered up for student use as a quasi-classroom, Monday–Friday from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. for the fall semester when classes are in session
- Weekdays – walls up separating Ballrooms A1, A2, and B with classroom seating only
- Weekends – walls can be removed for use of the entire Ballroom with classroom seating only
- Alumni Lounge will be offline for the fall semester to be utilized as a University testing site
- Room capacities will be determined using approved capacity guidance
- Capacities will vary depending on what is allowable for your event/activity type and the meeting room setup you require
- Existing reservations will be assessed every week for reservations within 30 days, confirming that reservations are still in line with COVID-19 protocols
- Any additional service staff that are part of your meeting (i.e. Catering or IT) will count toward your overall capacity
- Rooms will be sanitized between scheduled events and in-room self-sanitizing stations will be available to users
- Submit a room request here at least 72 hours (3 days) before your event. If you need to request a room less than 72 hours ahead of time, please contact the Memorial Union at 906-487-2543 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Room Setups – View standard setups for each room here. Custom setups are not available at this time.
Registrar – Academic Buildings and Classrooms –
- Classroom reservations for evenings and weekends are maintained in the Registrar’s Office. You may submit your request using the online room reservation system.
- Room reservation requests must be submitted at least one day in advance to ensure Public Safety and Police Services and Energy Management are notified.
- Registered Student Organizations must adhere to guidelines found here.
- For all group meetings, the group size of 10 is in effect. Even though your room may hold more, your group must adhere to the size of 10. An option if you have more is to reserve another room or meet outside.
- Reminder: Public Safety and Police Services is responsible for the locking of all University buildings. If you need after hours access to a building or room, or lock yourself out of your office, please call 487-2216.
- Information: If you need to reserve equipment or need assistance in a classroom, please contact Information Technology-User Services at email@example.com or call 487-1111. Any questions, call the Registrar’s Office at 487-2319.
- Classrooms are cleaned daily, except weekends. Sanitize the areas where you sit and touch before and after use. Groups must maintain at least six feet of distance. Face coverings must be worn. Close windows, turn off lights, clean up, return room to order, and close the door when leaving. Be smart, do your part, and be responsible for your own safety.
Please Take Care of Breakers
The North Canal Township Park is what we call “Breakers.” Breakers is unique in that the beach was partly formed due to the result of local mining and is made up largely of stamp sand. Breakers is very popular for students at Michigan Tech – the drive out is nice and it seems like there’s always some group having a bonfire. But we must also be good stewards of the park. Here are a few tips to help us all continue to enjoy Breakers…

- Leave it better than you found it
- Let the wildlife be
- Be prepared
- Think about your impact
- Be courteous to others
Update on SDC Reservations for RSOs!
The SDC will resume reservations for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) for the 2020-21 academic year on September 21.
Updated guidelines on the SDC reservation process, requirements and procedures during COVID-19 will be released early next week. Michigan Tech is adhering to state and federal guidelines related to event size, public gatherings and health and safety protocols. Face coverings are required during athletic RSO practices and competitions.
Please note that in addition to the SDC’s COVID-19 guidelines, your plan must also meet the Student Leadership & Involvement Office’s RSO Consideration for Physical Activities and Club Sports During COVID-19.
All RSO reservations that have already been submitted to the SDC are being held. There is no need to submit another form at this time. We thank you for your patience and look forward to getting your group back to the SDC!

ResEd Spotlight Board Program
We at ResEd have created the Spotlight Board Program which is designed to have student organizations come into the residence hall and decorate a bulletin board to introduce a learning opportunity. The board should be decorated with a given theme and content of your choosing as well as some information about your organization and how other students can get involved. Content can be anything from history/heritage month, awareness month, or any topic that your organization wants to spotlight.
If a student organization submits an idea, the residence hall councils will choose what they want to see in their environment. Submitting an idea does not guarantee your board will be picked for a certain month. For more information about this process you read up on the policy here: Spotlight Board Policy
