2nd Annual Protect Your Pumpkin Carving

Beta Sigma Theta is hosting their 2nd Annual Protect Your Pumpkin Carving. Prices are dependent on pumpkin supplies and carving tools/paint will be provided. All proceeds go towards mental health facilities! 

This year the event will have two locations:

MUB Alumni Lounge C from 3-6 PM

1210 College Ave from 8-10 PM.

We hope to see you there and join in on the fun Halloween festivities!


USG Presents: Finance Q & A Night


Rhythm Afrikana

Come join the African Students Organization for the first-of-its-kind evening of great African music and taste.

Rhythm Afrikana will take place on Friday, October 28th from 7pm to 10pm in the MUB Commons.

There will be African food available for sale.


MI Concealed Pistol License (CPL) Course

Earn your MI Concealed Pistol License (CPL) through this one-day course brought to you by Michigan Tech Recreation, the SDC Shooting Range, and 906 Tactical. Winter Carnival 2023 Stage Review Application

Winter Carnival 2023: Tasty Foods for Wintry Moods is coming! Stage Review is a great way to be involved in the festivities! 

Applications will be accepted starting on October 21, 2022, at 9:00 AM and are DUE by Friday, November 18, 2022, at 5:00 PM. A $20 sponsorship fee, in check form only, MUST be turned in to the Blue Key Office by November 18, 2022, before 5:00 PM. Please make checks payable to “Blue Key” and clearly write the organization’s name on the subject line.

You must send at least one representative to the audition meeting/drawing, which will be at 8 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2022, in Fisher 130. Groups with duplicate themes will be informed at this event or prior. This event will be used to answer questions and draw audition times.

Auditions will be Saturday, December 3, 2022, starting at 9 AM in EERC 100 and 103. Send a copy of the script to bkstage@mtu.edu and bring six (6) printed copies to the audition with you.

Note: The stage managers for the group cannot participate in the skit as actors/actresses.

Winter Carnival 2023 Royalty Coronation Applications

We are excited to have you apply for candidacy for the 2023 Winter Carnival Royalty Competition! Before applying please be aware of some of your duties and time commitments as a candidate.

Preliminary interviews will be held on Saturday, December 3rd in MUB Ballroom B. If you are not selected by the judges to be a finalist, your responsibilities will end at this time.

If you are selected as a finalist, you will have the opportunity to meet and work with many new people. There is a sizable time commitment to be met with this position, especially during the month of January. The entire process involves interviews, luncheons, rehearsals, and Carnival Week appearances. The finalists meeting on Thursday, December 8th at 7pm, will more fully explain the duties and time commitments of the finalists.

You will be notified the week before Thanksgiving Break of your interview time and location. We hope that you will consider it an honor to be applying as a candidate for the 2023 Winter Carnival Royalty Competition. We look forward to working with you!

The application will close at 5 pm on November 4th.


HuskiesFit Ultimate Punch Card

Commit to be HuskiesFit this Fall with the HuskiesFit Ultimate Punch Card and gain a variety of group fitness classes to choose from! The Fall class schedule begins today, October 20!

The HuskiesFit Ultimate Punch Card is good for one year from the date of purchase, comes in 8- or 16-punch options, AND allows you to attend a great selection of classes that are open to anyone 16 years of age or older. Class day passes are also available for $10.

We’re excited to announce that SDC access holders (minimum one-month) may now attend HuskiesFit group fitness classes for FREE as a new benefit of membership! Just present your access ID for entry to class.

HuskiesFit rowing classes begin next week as well! Sign up today for Get Your Erg On! Join members of the MTU Rowing Club as they guide you through basic rowing techniques. OR sign up for The Erginator and hone your rowing skills! Both Get Your Erg On! and The Erginator are session-based classes and are not included in the HuskiesFit Ultimate Punch Card (and not free for SDC access holders).

It’s WIBIT Wednesday!

Come make a splash with our new inflatable pool obstacle course called the WIBIT! You can test your individual skills on the course or challenge your friend to a race across the obstacles. Events will be held this fall for current MTU Students and SDC Access Pass Holders (minimum 1-month). Student/Access ID is required to be presented upon entry into the pool area and a swim test is required before accessing the obstacle.

SMLS Halloween Blood Drive

Join the Society of Medical Laboratory Scientists to celebrate Halloween by donating blood at our UP Regional Blood Drive! The Blood Drive will be on Friday, October 28th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm in the DHH Ballroom. Schedule your appointment to donate here or by using the QR code. Graduate Student Government presents

3MT Competition

Participating in the 3MT can be a way for you to develop important communication and research skills, and to participate in the building of research culture at Michigan Tech. Cash prizes are also available to the top competitors and the people’s choice. In addition, the winners of the local 3MT competition are given a chance to represent Michigan Tech at the next level of competition, and potentially even national and international 3MT competitions, which provides an excellent networking and professional development opportunity.

Conflict Resolution Workshop

Do you ever wish you knew how to handle different types of conflict better? Are you interested in learning new strategies?

Join GSG and Rob Bishop, Director of Academic Conduct in an interactive workshop where you will learn conflict resolution strategies and who to talk to for help, and how to engage in restorative dialogues to resolve interpersonal conflicts.

Light refreshments will be provided!


Tennis Program

Session 2 registration for Adult and Huskies Tennis Lessons is underway!

For ages 17 and up, Gates Tennis Center offers lessons for adults looking to improve their tennis games with beginner or intermediate classes. Each class will include technique and games to develop skills that will improve their hitting session and match play on their own!

High-Performance Nutrition for College Students

Barbell Club is hosting High-Performance Nutrition for College Students. The speaker will be Jamie Phillips. Jamie will be discussing the science and application of eating for health, performance, and body composition during college. Guests will learn basic nutrition principles and advanced strategies to help them succeed in any discipline.

Have you ever wanted an opportunity to express your creativity? Well here is the perfect way for you to do that! We are the marketing team behind MUB Board’s events and we want to invite you to come hang out with us! We meet every Monday at 5pm in MUB 106. Our committee focuses on utilizing marketing strategies to promote the events happening on campus. We create posters, table tents, social media posts, and many more marketing materials.

The best part? No prior experience is required! You can come and learn how to use Adobe Creative Suite, perform data analytics, utilize Canva, and more! If you are already familiar with any of the above software, that’s even better!

Come hang out with our fun crew of students developing creative marketing materials!


Annual Physics Bowl

Women in Physics is hosting our annual Physics Bowl on October 28th and we were hoping that it could be included in the Student Scoop. The questions will cover basic under-grad physics questions and require teams of two or more.

It is Halloween-themed.  Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite costume. We will be giving out candy and the winner gets physics-themed giveaways.
