Pre-Finals Week Pajama Party
The semester is nearly done and finals are coming up, so we’re letting loose in our pajamas! Join us on Saturday, April 20th at 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for a Late Night Program and Film Board Pajama Party at Fisher Hall 135 and 132.
Come as you are or wear your favorite pajamas, slippers, and/or robe. Bring a stuffed animal to show off. There will be gluten-free and vegan snacks available and copious amounts of popcorn. Monsters University (2013) will play (for FREE!) in Fisher 135 and there are board games in Fisher 132 for all players. Bring your friends and have some downtime in your p.js watching a movie, eating snacks, and playing games.
K-Day Registration Opens Tomorrow!
K-Day is just around the corner on September 6th, and registration opens tomorrow! K-Day, or Keweenaw Day, is an annual student involvement fair held at Chassell Centennial Park with food, fun, and music! Typically 3500-4000 students come out for this event. This is a fantastic chance for your organization to showcase what you have to offer and attract new members.
The theme this year is Trivial Pursuit! Please have your organization’s activity finalized before registering. Registration closes August 30th but space is limited so do not delay!

Women In Natural Resources Plant Sale
Hello! Women in Natural Resources will be holding our annual Plant Sale on April 17th and 18th, from 10am-2pm! This event will be held in the atrium of the U.J. Noblet Forestry building, just up the road from the main campus. We will be selling houseplants, succulents, herbs, pots, handmade macrame, and more! Join Us for Design Expo 2024
Please save the date for Michigan Tech’s 24th Design Expo! It’s happening April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first floor of the Van Pelt and Opie Library and in the MUB Ballroom.
Design Expo is an annual event highlighting hands-on, discovery-based learning with a showcase of Enterprise, Senior Design/Capstone, and team projects from all across the Michigan Tech campus. This is a great opportunity to see the amazing projects going on throughout campus and even get a chance to talk to the teams about their experiences. You may even find an Enterprise Team or research project you want to participate in!

Once again the library will be putting pictures of your pets on our digital displays during finals week. Sharing pet photos helps everyone smile and will hopefully remind you of all the fun you’ll have with your pets once this semester is in the books. Consumer Product Manufacturing Enterprise
Consumer Product Manufacturing Enterprise, a multidisciplinary group consisting of multiple projects, is holding an info session for interested students on Wednesday, April 17th from 6-6;30pm in the Wadsworth Annex (Room G11). Students are able to work on a variety of projects, ranging from creating sustainable biofuel, developing process improvements for corporate sponsors, and engineering a below-knee prosthesis. Attend to learn more about how CPM operates, their current projects, and how you can get involved.
Survey to provide women’s lab coats at the chemistry store!
As requested by students, Women in Physics and the Chemistry Graduate Safety Committee have made a survey to better understand the usage and quantity of those who would purchase a women’s lab coat. The questions cover needed sizes, lab coat specifications, etc., and will help provide information that is needed to get them in stock at the Chemistry Store.

Gear Auction
Join Michigan Tech Athletics, Recreation, and Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP) at the annual silent gear auction. The Gear Auction will be held on Saturday, April 13th, 11am – 1pm, in the SDC Ice Arena, on the concourse. The Auction is open to everyone and is a silent/blind bid auction. No pre-registration is needed, however participants will be required to sign in when entering the auction with name, phone, and email.
All items start at $50 or more. The auction will take place from 11am to 1pm and will include used and surplus outdoor and sports gear. Calls will be made to winning bidders between 1pm and 2pm. Winners are required to pay and pick up items between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, April 13th.
We will also be accepting outdoor and recreational gear for commission in the gear auction starting Monday, April 8th through Friday, April 12th. You determine the starting price for each of your items, however, items less than $50 will not be accepted. We are taking a $10 commission fee for each item sold.

Purple Hearts Presented by Michigan Tech Theatre

Opening tonight! Get your tickets to the suspenseful, thought-provoking (and sometimes funny) 4-show run of Purple Hearts by C.S. Wallace performed by Michigan Tech Theatre in McArdle Theatre. See performances tonight through Saturday, April 10, 11, 12, and 13, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in McArdle Theatre.
This play marks the director’s debut production at Michigan Tech; while this is his first here, Nich has directed over 50 plays, operas, and musicals in Chicago and across the United States. The play also represents the final curtain call for five graduating seniors this semester; meet the full cast in the digital program.
Set in the wake of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Purple Hearts tells the story of three soldiers who were trapped aboard the sunken USS West Virginia, and the loved ones who await them back home. Based on true events, the play imagines what may have happened during the weeks they were trapped inside the ship’s compartment.

The drop-in Artist Reception will be from 5-7 p.m., featuring a variety of works in different media, including fibers and textiles, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and more. Students from many different majors at MTU, including (but not limited to) Engineering, Biology, Computer Science, Theatre, Entertainment Technology, and Physics, are presenting their art in this eclectic show. The showcase will be open in the Rozsa Art Galleries through April 16.
