Dean’s Corner
The last day for ALL students to drop a class with a “W” is March 21, 2025. First-year students need to complete this form and email it to schedule@mtu.edu. All other students can email schedule@mtu.edu to indicate which classes they want to drop.
Courses dropped between the 4th and 10th weeks will earn a ‘W’ grade (withdrawn). A ‘W’ appears on the student’s transcript which indicates that the student dropped the course. ‘W’ marks do not affect GPA calculations, but the credits dropped are included in attempted credit hours for financial aid purposes (satisfactory academic progress).
Got questions? Email your advisor or deanofstudents@mtu.edu
Vote on the New USG Constitution
The Undergraduate Student Government is changing its Constitution, with the potential to involve members of the Student Assembly into important processes. To approve the Constitution, we must have 15% of the Student Assembly vote on the Constitutional Amendments (that’s over 900 students!). Afterwards, the Constitution must be passed by the Michigan Tech Board of Trustees.
Some highlights include:
– Adding 2 Student Assembly members to the Ways and Means Committee that handles Purchase Requests, Opportunity/Reserve Fund requests, and the entirety of Budget Hearings!
– Allowing for greater representation of the student body as the campus population increases
– Increasing internal oversight and member review requirements
Learn more about each of the amendments at https://usg.mtu.edu/vote25. If you’re all set and ready to vote, visit our Involvement Link election! We are asking you to vote on each grouping of amendments, so please read the amendments to see what you are voting on!

Are You Going Through An Officer Transition In Your RSO?
In Student Leadership and Involvement, we often hear from groups that had a “bad transition” between student organization leaders. They lack historical knowledge, miss deadlines they weren’t familiar with, and have to spend valuable time recreating what should already exist. Are you looking to ensure your organization’s leadership doesn’t end up in this challenging position?
Attend HuskyLEAD: Effective Leadership Transitions to learn effective strategies for:
-Retaining digital documents
-Carrying on consistent relationships with campus partners
-Sharing necessary information with incoming officers
-Hosting effective transition meetings
A variety of resources and sample documents will be shared. Time will be provided throughout the workshop for attendees to take action steps on transition planning. It is recommended that multiple organization leaders attend together and that they bring laptops with access to any relevant organizational documents.
Date: Wednesday, March 19th
Time: 4:00-5:00 PM
Location: Fisher 129
If you are interested in attending, please register here. Additionally, if you have any questions about this event, please email Student Leadership & Involvement at activites@mtu.edu. We hope to see you there!
