Please note that if you’re participating with an organization or group, everyone must still register individually.

What to Expect

Projects will vary depending on community needs and may include painting, weeding, planting, raking, organizing, cleaning, and more. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people while making a visible difference in just one day!

Alternative Spring Break Applications Open Now!

Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is an experiential learning opportunity that promotes service-learning and community building. Students participate in education, direct service, and reflection in order to become engaged members of their communities.

Alternative Spring Break is open to any student in good academic and conduct standing at the University. You do not need previous experience in service or on campus to participate. Each trip seeks to have students from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Student Leadership and Involvement is excited to host two Alternative Spring Break trips this year:

  • New Orleans, Louisiana – In collaboration with NetWork Volunteers, this Alternative Spring Break trip will support projects focused on environmental sustainability.
  • Bel Air, Maryland – As part of the Collegiate Challenge program, participants will assist in home construction projects and volunteer at a Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna ReStore, directly supporting families in need of safe and stable housing.

There is a program fee of $500 for each trip. This fee, which is subsidized by the Student Activity Fee, covers transportation during the trip, on-site lodging, meals, and coordination of service projects. Participants are responsible for personal expenses such as meals/snacks during travel, personal supplies, souvenirs, and any additional purchases.

To receive priority consideration, please submit your application by Wednesday, November 12th. After that date, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all spots are filled. Apply here!

Please contact Student Leadership and Involvement at huskyhelpers@mtu.edu if you have any questions!

Important Information for Parents/Guardians:
To register your child for aquatics programs this coming fall, you’ll need to:
1. Create your account *Note: Due to system constraints, only current students, faculty, and staff may use an MTU email. All others must use or create a different email address to create an account.
2. Add your children as your affiliates (with their date of birth)
3. Register your child through their affiliate profile (profile options in top right corner), not your own, for any program with an age requirement

This ensures accurate participant info and correct age group placement.

Create your accounts early to be ready!
– Additional information on how to create your user account
– Additional information on how to create your child’s affiliate account
