Uncover Engineering Marvels with Robot in 3 Days 2026
Hey robot enthusiasts and FIRST Alumni,
Copper Country Robotics at Michigan Tech is hosting the second year of Robot in 3 Days at Michigan Tech, where the most dedicated FIRST Robotics students will ideate, design, build, program, and market a robot from scratch in just 72 hours! Starting on January 10th, 2025 at 12:00PM, we will work as a group to pioneer these engineering challenges. This year’s FIRST Robotics Competition game: REBUILT, presents great challenges to high school teams across the world, and colleges throughout the midwest and beyond are ramping up to show our skills and expertise as a core pillar of robot ideation and design. We’re looking for students to join our crew and help us become an example across the entire Upper Peninsula for what a sound and beautiful robot looks like.
Students participating in the challenge don’t have to be engineers (or even good at building). We need all sorts of skills ranging from programming, marketing, electronics, streaming, and presenting to make this run. Half of the battle is streaming this across the nation on our social media platforms and highlighting the expertise and design that makes Michigan Tech special!
If you want to get involved, RSVP before December 1st on our Involvement Link. In addition, check out our 2025 Robot in 3 Days robot, Blizzard T. Robot
Questions? Email ccr-contact@mtu.edu to get in touch with our Executive Board and RI3D Committee. We look forward to seeing you on the team!

FSC Skate Drive
Do you have any old ice skates, soakers, or guards sitting around? Drop them off at the Figure Skating Club’s skate drive! The drive will run from November 17 to December 5, with bins in the Memorial Union Building by MUB 101 and in the library by the 24-hour door. Previously, we’ve had a bring-your-own-skates policy in our club, which can be financially draining. By donating skates, you provide the opportunity for participants to experience figure skating regardless of financial obstacles.
SDC Registered Student Organization Usage
As the number of student organizations on campus continues to grow and available practice space becomes more limited, the Student Development Center (SDC) is committed to reserving a 2-hour time slot once a week for each organization during Registered Student Organization (RSO) hours. We kindly ask that you complete the student organization request form regarding your organization’s needs for the SDC. Your feedback is important to us, and we look forward to collaborating with you.
The reservation period for the spring semester will begin on Monday, November 17, and will continue until December 22. During this time, RSOs can reserve space in the SDC for the upcoming academic semester. Please note that reservations will be processed starting January 2. We will ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to secure a space. Once the reservations have been added to the calendar and availability is confirmed, we will email student organizations to invite them to request a second time slot at the SDC.
After the spring semester is finalized, you can view the facility schedule and make additional reservations using DSE, our facilities reservation system. Step-by-step instructions for making a reservation are available at the top left of the system.
If you have any questions, please contact Laura Givens at lgivens@mtu.edu.
Have a great week,

THIS WEEK: Men on Boats LIVE on the McArdle Stage. Reserve your Free Student Rush Tickets
The highly anticipated production of Men on Boats by Jacklyn Backhaus sets sail Tuesday through Friday, November 18-21, in the McArdle Theatre.
Heads up, Huskies! Opening night has already SOLD OUT, so if you want to catch this adventurous, hilarious, and thought-provoking show, you’ll need to secure your spot ASAP. Be sure to request your free Michigan Tech Student Rush Tickets early.
Synopsis:
Men on Boats tells the ‘mostly’ true, satirical story of John Wesley Powell’s 1869 expedition. Powell, a one-armed Civil War veteran, led a crew of ten men down the treacherous Colorado River through the uncharted Grand Canyon. It’s a journey filled with perilous rapids, rugged terrain, and plenty of interpersonal drama.
Director Nich Radcliffe explains, “I hope the audience leaves the theatre laughing. And I hope that laughter makes it easier to be honest with themselves, about the world, and about the place and the voice everyone deserves in it.”
Paige Harsevoort, who plays the expedition’s leader John Wesley Powell, agrees. “It’s a really funny show, there’ll be no shortage of laughter, I can promise you that,” she says. “But it’s also kinda hitting on some important topics that I think sometimes people don’t like to talk about. So I think it’s an interesting story and it’s kind of eye opening.”
