Think you know your music? Can you crack a spy code? Have you mastered Michigan Tech traditions, or are cryptids more your style? Gather your friends and join Student Leadership and Involvement for Trivia Night, an evening of fun, friendly competition, and great prizes!
Teams will compete in five exciting rounds of bar-style trivia, with questions ranging from pop culture to local lore. Whether you’re a trivia expert or just looking for a fun way to spend the evening, there’s something for everyone.

Each round features accessible, fast-paced questions designed for all experience levels, so everyone has a chance to contribute to their team’s success.

League of Women Voters of the Copper Country Student Internships for Fall Semester
The League of Women Voters of the Copper Country (LWVCC) seeks to hire two part-time paid interns from approximately mid-August through mid-December 2026.
Interns should be students at a higher education institution based in the Copper Country, and should be available to attend in-person events in the region as well as occasional planning and training meetings with the LWVCC.
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. LWVCC is a local chapter of the national and state League of Women Voters organizations.
Examples of events and projects interns would assist the LWVCC with include:
- Nonpartisan presentations on voter registration and voter engagement in local high schools
- Voter registration events at Michigan Technological University
- Candidate forums for the public hosted by the LWVCC
- Social media and web content creation about LWVCC events and nonpartisan voter information for the fall midterm election
Interns will be compensated per event that they participate in, typically $50 per event, although some may vary based on time and effort. Social media projects will similarly be compensated based on time and effort per project. This work is very part-time and can be flexible to work with a student schedule.
Applicants should: - Be a student at a higher education institution in the Copper Country (Michigan).
- Be able to conduct themselves professionally in an educational role that is nonpartisan
- Have good communication and presentation skills
- Be organized and punctual
- Be willing to commit to some evening or weekend meetings and events in the community.
- Be willing to work with local schools to find a few times to visit during the school day
- Be able to work independently with guidance from the LWVCC board members.
Interns will get to know the LWVCC board members, who will provide mentorship and give approval for all projects. Interns will learn about the League of Women Voters, how community members participate in civic life, and how American government works from this experience.

American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course
Registration opens today for the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course at Michigan Tech’s SDC Pool. This intensive 3-day course offers a comprehensive certification in Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid.

- August 28: 8:00am – 5:00pm
- August 29: 8:00am – 6:00pm
*Breaks included in general time frames. Detailed schedule will be shared upon registration.

- Eligibility: Participants must be at least 15 years old
