It’s that exciting time of the fall semester—Homecoming! From Sunday, September 13 through Saturday, September 19, campus will be buzzing with events and activities for everyone to enjoy. This year’s theme, Mission Impossible, promises a week full of Husky spirit, exciting challenges, and plenty of fun.

Grab your friends, gear up in your boldest Husky gear, and accept the mission! Whether you’re cheering on teams, taking part in the week’s activities, or simply soaking up the Homecoming atmosphere, there’s something for everyone.

Didn’t register a team? No problem! You don’t need a team to join in on the action. Come out to the public events below, show your Husky pride, and cheer on your favorites. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: make the most of Homecoming!

The Fall 2026 session of Catalyst™ will be held on Saturday, September 26th from 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM in the Memorial Union Building. All participants will receive free workshop materials, lunch, and a gift. What is Catalyst?
Catalyst™ is a great entry into the LeaderShape® community. It is a one-day program focused on developing your own authentic path, connecting to groups and causes you care about, and committing to a plan to be a catalyst for yourself and the groups you’re part of.

Throughout the program, you’ll consider powerful questions that move you towards action:
Am I on the right path? Who do I want to be? How can I connect with other like-minded individuals? In small-group dialogue, large-group interaction, and personal reflection, you’ll learn alongside others who also want to start something extraordinary.

The Active Responsibility of Citizenship

Did you know that when polled nationally:

  • ⅓ of Americans cannot name the three branches of government
  • ⅔ of Americans cannot name three of the five specific rights protected under the First Amendment
  • Over 50% of Americans do not know how long a senator’s term in office is

If you find this concerning, we invite you to join us for a guest lecture with Lindsey Cormack for a candid breakdown of what constitutional democracy asks of each of us on Tuesday, September, 22, at 7 pm at the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts.

President John F. Kennedy famously urged Americans in 1961 to “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” Many of us still struggle to answer that question today. Dr. Cormack, author of How to Raise a Citizen, will draw on her work in civic education, congressional history, and political communication to help audiences look past the political polarization and congressional chaos to consider how we can be active citizens. Her presentation offers a practical roadmap for taking an active role in strengthening our public institutions and shaping the future for the next generation.

This lecture is partially funded by the Visiting Professor Program, which is funded by a grant to the Office of the Provost from the State of Michigan’s King-Chávez-Parks Initiative. It is also a part of the Van Evera Distinguished Lecture Series through the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts, with additional sponsorship through the League of Women Voters of the Copper Country and Michigan Tech Huskies Vote.

This event is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.

Paw Prints: The Michigan Tech Journal of First-Year Writing is now accepting submissions for our Fall 2026 issue!

We’re now accepting rolling submissions–you can submit your UN1015 journal article for consideration for publication at any time. Review of submissions is ongoing. Contact the editorial team at pawprints@mtu.edu with questions!

If you’re proud of your work in UN1015 and would like to see it in print, navigate to our submissions page here: Submissions | Paw Prints, fill out your information, and submit a link or upload the draft. It’s that easy! 

The editorial board consists of advanced undergraduate MTU students; they will be reviewing and recommending pieces for inclusion in the journal.

If your article is accepted for publication, you will work with upper-division students on revising and editing your piece for appearance in the journal. Students who complete the suggested revisions will see their article through to publication.

There is a $100 publication scholarship for students whose articles are published!

Fall Mud Bog Presented by the Four Wheelers at Michigan Tech

It’s that time of year again – time for the mud to fly at the annual MTU 4×4 Fall Mud Bog!

The event will take place at the Range Snowmobile Club in Houghton on SATURDAY, October 3, 2026.

This event hosts the local community, families, and fanatics of the car, truck, and off-road world. Mud Flies at noon! Hope to see you there.

Career Fair OEM Networking Presented by the Four Wheelers at Michigan Tech

Career Fair Prep! This event is designed with a dual purpose to bring together students, alumni, and industry partners to showcase their companies and projects and to engage with highly motivated engineering students in a more personal environment than a traditional career fair. The Four Wheelers Club’s extensive alumni network reaches across many automotive and engineering employers. Students learn about different companies, explore career paths, and receive advice on internships, co-ops, and full-time positions.

The event is scheduled to take place on the MTU campus grounds on Sunday, September 27th from 6 – 9:30 PM. There will be an outside covered area for displays in front of the “MUB”. There will also be current members’ off-road vehicles being showcased. We have the Alumni Lounge in the MUB reserved during this time for companies to meet and discuss the opportunities available for MTU students.

Upcycled Food Operations (UFO) delivers leftovers and ready-to-eat meals from Wadsworth Dining Hall directly to HuskyFAN food pantry locations. UFO meals are free and available in the Fisher Hall food pantry, the SDC Community Fridge, and the Library Cupboard as supplies last.

Computing [MTU] Poster Competition Call for Entries

The yearly Institute of Computing and Cybersystems (ICC) Student Poster Competition will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Oct. 2 in the Longyear Commons of the H-STEM Complex.

Register your student research poster before the deadline at 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 28 to participate.

Winners in undergraduate and graduate categories will receive a scholarship prize. Please visit the ICC’s Student Poster Competition page for requirements, judging criteria, and additional information.

  • Extensive litigation experience in intellectual property, bankruptcy, environmental law, insurance coverage, class actions, and contracts, with cases across the U.S. and internationally.

Paints and Cacti

Join IRHC in Wads G-41 on Friday the 25th, 3 pm-5 pm, for painting, flowerpots, and free succulents! We will have 150 succulents on a first-come, first-served basis. Paint a pot for your succulent to make it custom and perfect for your plant! We will have over 12 colors of acrylic paint to choose from. There will be light refreshments and snacks for pre- and post-transplanting. So come get a succulent on the 25th before they’re all gone!

Women in Physics LaTeX Workshop

Women in Physics presents a three-session workshop all about LaTeX! LaTeX is a software used for creating documents and is especially helpful for writing papers, manuscripts, lab reports, and bibliographies. Taught by Krishna Teja Vedula, this workshop will cover the essentials of LaTeX functions, commands, editors, and more! No prior knowledge is required!

PADI Open Water SCUBA Course!

Dive in with us! Register now for our PADI Open Water SCUBA Course!

This PADI Open Water Diver Course is conducted over two weekends and includes: 10 hours of academic instruction (some coursework to be completed independently), 10 hours of confined water training (SDC Pool), and certification dives in Lake Superior (Marquette). Upon registration, students will be given all required reading material and paperwork to complete prior to the start of the course. Class size is limited.

This fall, discover new ways to get moving with Aikido, Rowing, and Tumbling. Each program offers a unique opportunity to build skills, challenge yourself, and have fun along the way!

Get moving and build strength and endurance with an energetic rowing workout designed to challenge participants at their own pace.

Develop coordination, confidence, discipline, and martial arts skills through progressive Aikido training.

HuskiesFit Programs offers a variety of fitness classes to keep you motivated and moving. Passes are semester-based and EXPIRE at the end of the Fall 2026 Semester. They are valid for the current list of classes available and will not be exchanged or refunded due to changes in the class schedule. Classes may vary in length, location, or number of available seats. First come, first served.

  1. Check In: Stop at the Fitness Center Attendant Desk. Give the attendant your name to verify your registration/eligibility, and they will hand you a class token. 
  2. Head to Class: Hand your token to the instructor in the studio and enjoy your workout!

Volunteer ushers will help welcome guests, scan tickets, assist with seating, and provide general event support during the Homecoming Lip Sync Battle at the Rozsa Center. Ushers should arrive at 6:15 p.m. for a brief orientation before doors open.

Based on position, use ticket scanners (hand-held device to validate ticket admission), stampers (used to validate patrons who entered with a valid ticket if they leave through the gates and come back for re-entry), or serve wristbands (put wristbands on patrons with valid tickets for the VIP Pavilion area) for entrance to the event.
