Climate Justice Research Scientist

The Climate Justice Research Scientist will support and expand social science, policy, governance and project management capabilities across various climate change adaptation projects, with an emphasis on projects in collaboration with frontline communities. Located in Seattle, Washington at the University of Washington. Application review will begin on April 21, 2023. A bachelors degree plus two years of experience is required.

Fish Sovereignty Internship

This summer you could gain hands-on experience with tribal traditions and customs of commercial fishing and seafood processing techniques. The selected intern will use this firsthand experience to create recruitment and outreach materials for a pilot program so that other community members may learn these teachings, too.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Member of Keweenaw Bay Indian Community
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Fisheries, Food Systems, Food Sovereignty, or Anishinaabe Cultures & Traditions
  • 18 years old by May 15, 2023
  • Willing to work non-traditional hours, with their hands, work on boats, and handle and process fish 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
