A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum Summer Help

The A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum is hiring students for the summer. Work would start no later than the week of Monday, May 1st, 2023. Preferably there would be training shifts that would start at the beginning of April. The position is focused on the museum’s gift shop, retail sales, and sales inventory. The ideal student should have a minimum of 4-hour blocks of time available to work and preferably longer as well as the ability to work between 9 am and 5 pm. Availability on Saturdays would also be ideal. Retail sales and/or customer service experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of geology and minerals is not required. Starting pay $12/hr.

Sustainability Data Analyst

    • This position will work for CVS to support data collection and monitoring of enterprise sustainability initiatives, emissions and energy, plastic, water, waste and other environmental sustainability data. There are two open positions. One will cover the Enterprise Data and the other will support Supply Chain Data.

Interdisciplinary Scientist

The Interdisciplinary Scientist will work with the New York Cities team at The Nature Conservancy.

The scientist will provide technical and scientific support and leadership related to understanding, visualizing, and communicating about the social-ecological systems of cities in an applied context. 

A master’s degree in a science related field and 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience are required.

Summer Field School in Italy

  • San Gemini Preservation Studies-Summer Field School in Italy

Funded Internal Graduate Research Assistant Position

The research project is titled Landfill Mining: Pasts and Futures of Waste Management and starts summer or fall 2023.

This 1-year research position is part of a US Department of Energy-funded team investigating the potential benefits and impacts of “landfill mining.”

The candidate will work with Dr. Jonathan Robins to investigate patterns of landfill development and engage in interdisciplinary research to evaluate the impacts of landfill mining on landfill-adjacent communities.

Landfills and other waste management sites are frequently the causes of environmental and social injustices, yet many waste sites also hold substantial quantities of aluminum and other resources.

New and current students in Social Sciences graduate programs are eligible to apply (IHA, EEP, and Sustainable Communities) as well as current undergraduates applying for accelerated MS degrees in these programs.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Sustainable Development
