Postdoctoral fellowship in Climate Change, Housing and Equity in Urban Canada Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change, York University, Toronto

This 12 month full-time post-doctoral fellow will work on a project at the intersection of climate change, housing, and poverty reduction in Ontario and British Columbia. The appointee will work with the Dean’s Office in the Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change (EUC) and with the City Institute at York University, and under the supervision of Profs. Lina Brand Correa and Luisa Sotomayor as part of a team developing a Climate & Equity Lab. With funding provided by the Gore Mutual Insurance Company of Cambridge, Ontario, this initiative also involves the Cooperators Insurance Company and Social Innovation Canada, both based in Toronto.

The postdoctoral fellow will play a key role in conducting qualitative research to explore how climate change affects housing experiences and opportunities for vulnerable groups in urban Canada.

We are seeking a candidate to start as soon as possible. The salary for the position is $75,000 per annum including benefits.

Assistant Professor of Hazards & Environmental Geography

Assistant Professor of Geography specializing in Hazards & Environmental Geography to begin in Fall 2025. Old Dominion University seeks a geographer to teach undergraduate and graduate courses on campus and online whose research addresses hazards, environmental policy, and human dimensions of climate change using innovative analytic methods such as AI. This Assistant Professor will also contribute to expanding offerings in hazards geography, environmental policy, and related applications using Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) and AI.

The position carries a teaching load of three courses per semester. This may include teaching courses in the Bachelor’s degrees in Geography, in the specialized majors in Environment & Resources, Emergency/Hazards Management, GIS, and Urban Geography, and/or in the certificate programs for Hazards & Emergency Management, Environmental Resources & Policy, GIS, and Spatial Analysis of Coastal Environments. The Department also offers offer a relevant concentration in Geospatial Analytics in the MS in Data Science & Analytics, contributes to the interdisciplinary undergraduate, Master’s, and doctoral programs in International Studies, and is proposing a MS degree in Geospatial Science & Technology. Opportunities also exist to participate in ODU’s Institute for Coastal Adaptation & Resilience (ICAR), teach in the Spatial Analytics Instructional Laboratory, and collaborate with expanding schools of Public Health and Data Science.

Assistant Professorship in the Social Science of Digital Green Transitions at IT University of Copenhagen

The IT University of Copenhagen in Denmark invites applicants who can contribute to strengthening the IT University’s research and teaching in how digital technologies are deployed in green transitions. The candidates must have a background in qualitative social science and be competent in taking a sociotechnical and ethnographic perspective on the topic.

The qualified candidate will engage in interdisciplinary research and be able to deliver advanced research-based teaching in:

  • Sustainability
  • Capitalist responses to climate change
  • Climate actions and social change
  • Green infrastructures

The position requires academic qualifications at PhD level and the candidate must have the ability to read/speak a Scandinavian language or the willingness to learn Danish.

Research will focus on how “climate change policy impacts people and the energy sector.” A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred. This position centers around research and writing and stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

Climate Justice Research Scientist

The Climate Justice Research Scientist will support and expand social science, policy, governance and project management capabilities across various climate change adaptation projects, with an emphasis on projects in collaboration with frontline communities. Located in Seattle, Washington at the University of Washington. Application review will begin on April 21, 2023. A bachelors degree plus two years of experience is required.

Climate Leaders Academy Fellowship

The Climate Leaders Academy is a two-semester program with the goal of providing formal climate training and professional development to fellows through direct engagement with national and international climate change frameworks, formalized mentoring and collaboration with a diverse set of institutions. Applications are due March 15, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. CDT.
Climate Leaders Academy Fellows will be entitled to:

  • $10,000 stipend ($5,000 per semester)
  • Four transferable course credits
  • All travel expenses covered (to and from kickoff workshop, climate change conferences, etc.)
  • One-on-one mentoring by a Climate Leaders Academy faculty member
  • Tuition coverage for Climate Leaders Academy course
