This summer you could gain hands-on experience with tribal traditions and customs of commercial fishing and seafood processing techniques. The selected intern will use this firsthand experience to create recruitment and outreach materials for a pilot program so that other community members may learn these teachings, too.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Member of Keweenaw Bay Indian Community
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Fisheries, Food Systems, Food Sovereignty, or Anishinaabe Cultures & Traditions
- 18 years old by May 15, 2023
- Willing to work non-traditional hours, with their hands, work on boats, and handle and process fish
- Strong communication and organizational skills
