Policy Analyst at UCL in London

The successful candidate will join the central team secretariat of the Lancet Countdown on health and climate change, in central London. The postholder will work with the Lancet Countdown’s Head of Policy to contribute to advancing international policy processes on climate change to enable a healthier future. This will involve engagement with technical officers across key stakeholder organizations and with policy officers within our partner universities, to advance the policy engagement work of the Lancet Countdown, with particular focus on the collaboration’s engagement with international organisations and policy processes to maximize the impact of the Lancet Collaboration’s research. 

The postholder will be responsible for co-developing and implementing the policy engagement and evidence translation strategy of the Global Lancet Countdown, focusing on international processes, and supporting national-level engagement for a select set of countries. In addition, they will support the Lancet Countdown in Europe in the implementation of their policy strategy. They will also be responsible for fostering strategic partnerships with key policy partners, coordinating and leading the development of policy documents, and delivering the Lancet Countdown’s engagement with international climate change processes, including in the context of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the  World Health Organisation.

This is a full-time role (i.e. 36.5 hours per week) and it is available immediately until April 2029 in the first instance.

Salary range: £43,124 to £51,610 per annum (including London Allowance), depending on experience.

About You
It is essential that the successful candidate has a Masters’ level degree in political sciences, international relations, public health, sustainable development or a related subject or equivalent experience.

Experience engaging with global processes such as the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and other international climate change policy processes.

The successful candidate must have technical knowledge of international diplomacy and policy processes, and the ability to apply this knowledge across multiple settings. They must also have experience developing or advising the development of national or global policy processes either internally as a political aide or externally from an academic institution, think tank or NGO.

The role requires that the post holder is willing to join meetings out of normal working hours and is willing to travel nationally and internationally.

Policy Researcher with Sustainability First

Sustainability First is a UK think tank and charity that works towards real environmental and social change.

They desire sector-specific understanding (energy and/or water utilities), including familiarity with key policies and strategies, such as Net Zero targets, climate adaptation strategies, and consumer vulnerability protections.

The Policy Researcher will be able to draft practical policy recommendations, informed by evidence and stakeholder input, and be familiar with key players, including government departments, regulators, consumer groups, industry bodies, and environmental organizations.

The post will be primarily based remotely but with access to shared office space in Camden and Monument in London. The salary for this part-time (4 days/week) role is £37,400 p.a. pro rata. The deadline for completed applications is on Sunday, February 8th.

Climate and Clean Energy Specialist

Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities is seeking a Climate and Clean Energy Specialist to support the Climate and Environment Program in northern Michigan. The Climate and Clean Energy Specialist will be a visible, credible leader on policy issues who will work with key stakeholders to achieve 100% clean energy commitments from local schools, tribal nations, businesses and government entities. This is a full-time position with flexible hours, generous vacation and health benefits, retirement contribution matching, and a competitive salary range. Research and Policy Associate Position

The Rachel Carson Council is hiring a Research and Policy Associate who is an aspiring, creative, committed and flexible environmental leader at the beginning of their career. The candidate should be willing to help expand and innovate at a small, but growing organization.

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in marine or environmental studies, science, history, or political science, or combined with other majors, minors or concentrations in helpful fields such as African American or Women’s Studies, English, journalism, creative writing, public policy is required. 

Responsibilities:

  • Track proceedings in the House and Senate to help inform RCC’s priorities in the policy agenda; attend legislative hearings, write memos, and send weekly updates to RCC staff regarding relevant issues.
  • Write and publish reports, articles, Op-Eds, policy briefs and papers for the RCC on its issues to include placement in other media outlets, journals, magazines, etc.
  • Speak publicly for the organization through lectures, workshops, rallies, and in the media.
  • Participate in and present to the RCC Campus Network, at RCC conferences, advocacy days, and trainings for RCC Fellows, etc. Work closely under the RCC Director of Policy and Programs to execute events, research, writing, and more.
  • Carry out additional tasks as needed and directed by the President & CEO within RCC’s mission.

Pay is $50,000 annually, or commensurate with experience.

Climate Justice Research Scientist

The Climate Justice Research Scientist will support and expand social science, policy, governance and project management capabilities across various climate change adaptation projects, with an emphasis on projects in collaboration with frontline communities. Located in Seattle, Washington at the University of Washington. Application review will begin on April 21, 2023. A bachelors degree plus two years of experience is required.
