Students,
I received the following message from a recent graduate. Mark was a double major with MIS and accounting.
As a Michigan Tech School of Business alum (MIS and Accounting, 2009), I wanted to share some information with you that I believe would be useful to students who are trying to decide where to direct their post-collegiate careers.
The three-year Information Technology Career Foundation Program (ITCFP) is designed specifically for recent college graduates with bachelor’s or master’s degrees in information technology and related analytical fields. The program allows participants to gain knowledge and experience in several key IT-related areas, including:
4 Application development
4 Infrastructure
4 Information security
Participants will gain experience in these and other critical areas while applying their knowledge and skills directly to different aspects of Boeing’s diverse business. Program graduates will be able to make more informed decisions about where to direct their personal career paths within the company.
Participants will also have the opportunity to be mentored by seasoned IT professionals, meet and network with business and technology leaders across the company (as well as with other newly hired IT professionals and peers), attend special seminars and workshops at various sites, and continue to learn and grow while adding value to Boeing’s business.
Those interested in applying for the program should follow the link below to learn more:

Students,
Here is the list of currently registered companies for the upcoming career fair: http://www.career.mtu.edu/careerfair/fall2011/companies/
Assure your resume is in good shape and look at the companies hiring business majors. Research those companies. The railroads continue to express an interest in hiring managers….especially related to operations. Many of the companies will also have business internships. Make a good impression…..your initial objective is to try and arrange further follow-up contact. This is also a good opportunity to get some experience in meeting company representatives. The Department of Defense has named the new STAR (Student Training and Academic Recruitment) student for the 2011-2012 academic year. She is Rhea-Ann Moses. She requested that I pass the following information on to you.
Good Afternoon,
My name is Rhea Moses and I just started as the new STAR student at Michigan Tech. I am a student recruiter for the civilian sector of the Department of Defense (DoD) on our campus. Throughout the year I will be receiving information about internships, co-ops, scholarships and jobs (career opportunities) within the DoD.
This program is extremely important to our campus; facilitating information from DoD recruiters to students could potentially help them get internships or co-ops that can lead to a great job after graduation. I have a lot of information at my disposal to help students see the benefits of working with the DoD and would love to show them all the opportunities available.
The DoD is not just looking for engineers either! They hire from all different majors and departments. So if a student does not think that they would be suitable for a DoD job just based on their major, that is not true. It never hurts to look into the existing opportunities.
I have an office within Career Services at the new location 220 Administrative Building. If you have students that want to contact me, my email is rhea-ann.moses@cpms.osd.mil and my phone number is (703) 501-9673.

There will be a $50 late fee for students who process their bills after 5 pm on Wednesday, August 24th.
Michigan Tech’s admissions office is seeking outgoing, enthusiastic student leaders to serve as Tour Guides for the Fall semester. Applicants must have completed at least two semesters at Michigan Tech and have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Stop by the admissions office or email rachel@mtu.edu for an application.
