As the Michigan Tech College of Business continues to produce award-winning students and graduates, preparations for the second annual College of Business Career Fair are underway.
Employers are invited to register for the event, held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the Memorial Union Building Ballroom on Michigan Tech’s campus. Participation is free, and interview space will be provided on Thursday, Oct. 29, for companies looking to hire for internships, co-ops, and full-time positions.
Co-hosted with Michigan Tech Career Services, the College of Business Career Fair comes a few weeks after the University’s fall Career Fair, offered as a specialized event for business students.
The Business Career Fair will give graduate and undergraduate students across nine bachelor of science and four master’s degree programs the opportunity to connect with employers on a more personal level.
“For years, our business students have relied on the University’s all majors Career Fair—and they still do. With thousands of students and hundreds of employers participating, it’s an incredible opportunity. But we also recognized that some companies come to campus looking for just one or two business students, and the scale of the larger fair can feel overwhelming for smaller employers,” said Jim Desrochers, director for employer relations with Michigan Tech Career Services.
“That’s why we created the College of Business Career Fair: a more focused, calmer environment where students can connect directly with firms that are specifically seeking business talent. We’re excited to see it grow, especially with employers who don’t typically visit campus, including accounting firms, banks, and consulting organizations,” Desrochers added.
“Last year, 17 employers attended, and 12 of them were new to our fall recruiting events. We also built in time for recruiters to meet faculty and spend time with the Dean to learn more about the College. With a new Dean this year, we’re eager to continue strengthening those relationships and expanding opportunities for our students,” he said.
The Michigan Tech College of Business Career Fair is free for all participants, but sponsorships and donations to support the event are welcome. For those wanting to be involved in any capacity, please reach out to careerfair@mtu.edu.
Students in the College of Business are known for their hands-on expertise, earned through programs such as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, educational experiences on Wall Street, international lean manufacturing lessons, and more.
