College of Computing Announces Associate Dean of Research

Dr. Dukka KC

Dr. Dennis Livesay, the Dave House Dean of Computing, has announced that Dr. Dukka KC has been appointed Associate Dean of Research (ADR) for the College of Computing.

Dr. KC, an associate professor in the Computer Science department, started at Michigan Tech this semester. He comes to the College of Computing from Wichita State University. His expertise is in applied deep learning and bioinformatics.

As ADR, Dr. KC will guide the college’s research activities, working across the college to grow the College of Computing sponsored research portfolio. He will track and oversee the administrative functions of research and, more importantly, mentor new faculty and help identify and build large interdisciplinary research teams.

Dr. KC takes over from Dr. Tim Havens, who has accepted the role of director of Michigan Tech’s Great Lakes Research Center.

The College of Computing, established in 2019, works to meet the technological and talent needs of the 21st century. As Michigan’s only academic college solely focused on computing, the College has quickly become a key provider of expertise and talent in artificial intelligence, software engineering, data science, cybersecurity, mechatronics, and more.
