New CS Summer Class: AI for the Social Good


The Department of Computer Science has added the summer 2023 class, AI for Social Good, which provides a comprehensive foundation in AI concepts including machine learning, deep learning, and decision-making.

Course Description: The benefits of AI-driven innovations can only be fully realized if there is a framework in place that aligns with societal needs, addresses grand challenge problems, ensures responsible use of algorithms and data, and follows best practices guided by a human-centered value system.

This course will provide a comprehensive foundation in AI concepts including machine learning, deep learning, and decision-making, with a focus on ethics through critical reviews, discussions, and expert speakers. The course will feature a hands-on approach to learning through real-world projects that tackle social impact problems.

The format of the course includes lectures, seminars, and hands-on learning opportunities. Both undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines are welcome to enroll, and are encouraged to incorporate their disciplinary interests into their class projects.
