William Frantz ’11 BS in Computer Science, will present a Department of Computer Science Colloquium lecture on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 3-4 pm in Rekhi 214 and via Zoom online meeting.

Talk Abstract

In this presentation, Wills will share his experience and history working in the automotive industry for the last 12 years, specifically within the software and cloud software space. He will share his perspective on watching the transformation of a 100+ year old company go from producing ‘legacy vehicles’ to ‘computers on wheels’ and how Ford is building a true  “Software Defined Vehicle.”

Speaker Bio

Wills Frantz is a 2011 Michigan Tech BS in Computer Science graduate. He has worked at Ford Motor Company for the past 12 years in various individual contributor and leadership roles centered around software development, support, and delivery. He also is a graduate of the Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business (MBA). Wills currently serves as a director of cloud services at Ford. He lives in southeast Michigan with his wife, son, and dog.
