Guy Hembroff and Jung Bae Receive ICC Achievement Awards

Jung Yun Bae, Assistant Professor, Departments of Applied Computing and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Guy Hembroff and Jung Yun Bae have been awarded the Institute of Computing and Cybersystems (ICC) Achievement Award, which recognizes ICC members who have made exceptional contributions to the mission of the Institute.

Hembroff is recognized for his leadership in growing the health informatics and data science graduate degree programs at Michigan Tech. He is an associate professor in the applied computing department and director of the graduate programs in health informatics and computational science and engineering.

Bae was recognized for her significant research impacts in improving climate resilience using modular robotic fleets and for serving as an inspiration and role model to young women pursuing STEM careers. She is an assistant professor for the applied computing and mechanical and aerospace engineering departments.

The goal of the ICC is to promote research and learning experiences through its seven research centers for the benefit of Michigan Tech, the Upper Peninsula, and society at large.

Hembroff is a member of the ICC’s Joint Center of Biocomputing and Digital Health, the Center for Cybersecurity

Bae is a member of the ICC’s Computing Education Center, the Center for Cyber-Physical Systems

Additional recipients of the ICC Achievement Award are:

Tan Chen, assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, for his award-winning research in bipedal robot locomotion and neural networks.

Vinh Nguyen, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, for his significant impacts in the field of automation in industrial systems and manufacturing and leadership in the ICC Center for AI.
