Michigan Tech Week Hackathon and Pitch Competition

Michigan Tech students are invited to participate in student hackathon and pitch competition events at Michigan Tech Week College Day on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Michigan Central, Detroit, Michigan. Apply by September 15, 2024.

Michigan Tech Week is a collaboration of multiple organizations and individuals who are committed to the state and our innovation ecosystem.

Michigan Tech Week Student Pitch Competition

The Michigan Tech Week Student Pitch Competition is a student-led business pitch competition designed to spotlight the top student startups from across the state. The competition aims to support future leaders in Michigan’s startup ecosystem as they compete for over $15,000 in non-dilutive funding. Each winner will also receive a free 1 year membership to Bamboo co-working space. The first place team will also receive up to $5,000 in legal services. Applicants accepted to pitch will each receive 2 free tickets to attend Michigan Tech Week. Apply here.

  • First Place: $7,500
  • Second Place: $4,000
  • Third: $2,500
  • People’s Choice: $1,000

Michigan Tech Week Student Hackathon

The Michigan Tech Week Student Hackathon is designed to foster collaboration among students from Michigan’s universities, colleges, and technical training programs to tackle real-world problems that address Michigan-specific challenges in tech-driven, scalable ways. Sponsored by Maximize, students will team up across campuses to create prototypes that solve for Michigan’s unique challenges, demonstrating their solutions to compete for $10,000 in non-dilutive funding.   • In-Kind Prizes: The top three teams will receive a free three-month membership in Maximize, as well as 1 year free memberships to Bamboo.

Golf Etiquette Outing-RSVP by Sept 18

We are excited to announce an upcoming event that will provide an excellent opportunity for both beginner golfers and those interested in learning about golfetiquette.

Don’t worry if you’re new to golf; this outing is designed to be inclusive and educational for all skill levels. 

Event Details:

Date: Sunday, September 22nd 

Golfers will be placed on tee times from 1-3pm (9 holes of golf typically takes ~ 2 hours)

Location: Portage Lake Golf Course

During this outing, you will have the chance to:

Learn Golf Etiquette: Our experienced “mentors” will provide insights into golfetiquette, rules, and the dos and don’ts on the golf course, making it an ideal event for beginners. 

Network and Socialize: Golf is not just a sport; it’s a valuable tool for building relationships, both personally and professionally. You’ll have the chance to connect with fellow students who share your interest in golf and business.

Practice Your Swing: For those who are new to golf or looking to gain a more complex understanding of, there will be opportunities to practice your swing and get out on the course!
