Incoming College of Business marketing major Ruby Walker has been named a recipient of Michigan Tech’s Leading Scholar Award, the University’s premier competitive award. The Leading Scholar program recognizes incoming first-year Huskies who best exemplify leadership traits and scholarly achievement in and outside the classroom.

After 42 years at Michigan Technological University, a chapter is complete for Thomas (Tom) Merz. Tom has been a professor of economics in the College of Business since 1980 and served as associate dean of the College for 10 years. He held visiting faculty positions with universities in Western Australia, Denmark, and Vietnam.
Management information systems (MIS) major Aerith Cruz, a 2020 Chaska High School graduate, is the 2023 recipient of the President’s Award for Leadership, presented annually to one Husky selected from a pack of nominees who provide exemplary leadership to peers through activities at Michigan Tech. At the Student Leadership Awards Ceremony on April 14, Michigan Tech President Richard Koubek honored Cruz with the award. The annual event celebrates and recognizes leadership, excellence, kindness, and achievement.
Undergraduate Student Speaker Anderson Piercey, who is earning his bachelor’s in management, will address the class of 2023 on Saturday at Undergraduate Commencement.
College of Business faculty and graduate students attended the MBAA International conference held at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, Illinois, March 22-24. The theme of the conference was “Quality Higher Education in a Post-Pandemic World.”
