Hello Huskies! Career Services is thrilled to kick off the Fall 2026 Career Fair. With over 350 employers heading to campus, we know you are eager to make valuable connections.
With just one week to go, here is your game plan to minimize stress and stand out to recruiters.
1. Set Up and Optimize Handshake
Don’t wait until you walk through the door—download the Handshake app (iOS & Android) today. Recruiters actively search profiles before the fair to target potential candidates.
- Complete Your Profile: Ensure your major, graduation year, and interests are fully updated.
- Refine Your Resume: Get feedback from Career Services, make your final edits, and upload the updated document to Handshake.
- Set to Public: Mark your profile and resume as “Public” so attending recruiters can discover you.
2. Master Company Research
Targeting your approach saves valuable time on the floor. Use Handshake to explore specialized job collections tailored for this event:
- Curated Collections: Browse the Internships From 2026/27 Career Fair Companies or Jobs From 2026/27 Career Fair Companies lists to view open roles.
- Follow Employers: Click “Follow” on companies you want to visit. You will receive real-time notifications about their campus visits and employer sessions.
3. Resume Printing & Professional Headshots
- High-Quality Printing: Stop by Admin 220 to print your resume on high-quality paper using HuskyPrint. The Library also offers dedicated resume printing services on Monday, Sept. 28, and Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 10 am – 3 pm both days.
- Free Professional Headshots: Update your LinkedIn and Handshake profiles at the Iris Portrait Lounge on the 2nd floor of the Memorial Union Building (MUB) from Sept. 24–30. (It returns to Admin 220 after the fair).
- Get your nametag: Nametag printing is available during the Prep Yourself and Partner Fest events. It is also available at the SDC.
4. Know the Event Logistics
- Date & Time: Tuesday, September 29, 2026 | 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Location(s): Student Development Complex (SDC) – Employers will be located in the Multipurpose Room, the Varsity Gym, and the Varsity Gym Balcony
- Attire: Business attire is highly encouraged.
- Transportation: Avoid driving due to heavy traffic and limited parking. Take the free continuous shuttle from the MUB bus stop to the SDC (running 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM). If walking or carpooling, enter through the North entrance (UP Health System Portage clinic side).
- Accessibility: The SDC has a variety of accommodations
5. Navigate the Floor with FairMapr
The SDC floor gets busy, but smart planning keeps you moving smoothly:
- FairMapr: Use FairMapr to filter employers by major, class standing, and position type. Save your favorite booths and add custom notes.
- Multipurpose Room Color Strips: Look at the color-coded stripes on the floor in the Multipurpose Room—match them to your map lines to navigate aisles easily.
6. On-Site Support & First-Time Features
Quiet Space: If you need a break from the noise to collect your thoughts or recharge, drop by our designated Quiet Space located inside the SDC.
First-Timer Tours: New to career fairs? Join a guided tour leaving every 30 minutes (at :15 and :45 past the hour) near the ticketing office, starting at 12:15 PM (last tour at 4:15 PM).
