Job Posting: Vulcraft

My name is Alex Brown.  I’m based in the Chicago area.  I graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2013.  I was fortunate to get hired at Vulcraft as an part-time intern during my last semester.  The team here was awesome at teaching me the technical side while helping me grow as a new professional in the industry.  After graduating, I was promoted to a full-time engineer and it’s been full steam ahead ever since.  In my current role, I help with our recruiting efforts, as well as business development and internal training.

Vulcraft is a manufacturer of steel joists, decking, and grating.  We are in the construction industry so we are primarily looking for students with Civil, Structural, Construction, or Business backgrounds.  But because our product is more specialized, we can teach the technical to anyone who wants to learn.

Applications for our 2023 Summer Internship should be submitted through Handshake (if that link doesn’t work, search “Vulcraft” jobs on Handshake and it’ll pop right up).  We are looking for 5-10 interns for Summer 2023 to be placed at 6 locations throughout the Midwest (our central manufacturing plant in Indiana + 5 satellite sales offices).  Duties would include working on real projects alongside our team, learning our product, visiting other Nucor facilities, and a final capstone design project.  I’ve also attached the flyer that we have been giving students at career fairs, which has more details about our company and the internship program.

For recent or soon-to-be graduates, our available full-time positions are here.  Vulcraft is a division of Nucor Steel, which has many more open positions across the country.

2023 Los Alamos Dynamics Summer School

Next summer, Los Alamos National Laboratory will be hosting the twenty-fourth edition of the Los Alamos Dynamics Summer School (LADSS). More information is available at https://ladss.lanl.gov, including instructions on how to apply.

They are seeking students with academic focuses in engineering (including mechanical, electrical, aerospace, and civil), as well as those in computer science and applied math.
