Federal Job Workshop

Career Services is hosting an information session on Tuesday, April 9 at 12:00noon. They invited a representative from The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to talk about their mission, entry level jobs that fit a variety of majors, as well as resume writing and application strategies for federal jobs.

They will be joining us via zoom, so students have the choice to join us in Admin 220 or via zoom. If a student prefers to meet over zoom, they can register for the event on Handshake and a link will be available to them 5 minutes before the event.

Here is the registration link: Talk About it Tuesday: How to Apply for Federal Jobs

CSMHW Anxiety Screening and Resources for Students

Coming up next Friday, we have an Anxiety Screening event.

Have you ever felt like your worries and fears are too overwhelming? Is anxiety making it difficult for you to get things done or interact in social situations?

From 10am – 2pm in the Library 243, students can take the anxiety screening for free. There is no appointment needed, but you can sign up online if you prefer! You can then chat with a clinical counselor about more information and additional resources. Here is where you can find more information about this event and others.

‘Telling Your Story’ Workshop Registration is Now Open

Are you a student who wants to pitch in the New Venture Challenge or another pitch competition? Do you want to make your presentations more compelling? If so, this workshop is for you.

Your ability to pitch greatly improves when you explain your business venture in a persuasive way. What need does your product or service fill? What impact will it have? Communicating your value proposition through the art of storytelling is an important part of connecting with your audience.

Laura Kasson Fiss (PAV), who teaches writing, literature and a course through Pavlis on telling your story, will walk pitch contestants through a process to help them identify key elements of their stories to pitch their innovations. We’ll talk about ways to arrange narrative elements to create a story arc and how to mobilize techniques of storytelling in the service of your innovation.

Join us on Feb. 23, 4- 5:30 p.m., at the West Collaboration Space in the Pavlis Honors College. Register online by Feb. 21.
