LEED Training Special – Fall Webinars

LEED Green Associate Certification: Fall Enrollment

Start this year right with new credentials in the field of sustainability: the LEED Green Associate! Spearheaded by the US Green Building Council, LEED accreditation tells employers about your knowledge and commitment in the field. While LEED itself is a scorecard for Green Buildings, people can also become LEED accredited highlighting their expertise about what it takes to work and build sustainably.

Our workshops have assisted over 12,000 students and professionals, resulting in an impressive passing rate. Given the exam’s difficulty, enrolling in our course is the most effective path to securing your designation. Seize the opportunity to make the most of this year by investing in your success!

NASA DEVELOP Program Spring 2025 Opportunities

NASA DEVELOP projects focus on helping local, national, and international communities address their environmental concerns while utilizing NASA’s Earth observing fleet of satellites. For the Spring 2025 term, NASA DEVELOP will operate at thirteen locations across the country at NASA Centers and other regional locations. This is a great opportunity for participants who are interested in practical applications of remote sensing and GIS, specifically in the field of Earth Science. Participants will work with NASA scientists, partner organizations, and science advisors to learn about the use of NASA Earth science data for use in water resources, disaster management, ecological conservation, and other applications to address environmental community concerns.

Responsibilities will include: literature review, data processing and analysis, and producing deliverables, such as a technical report, presentation, and video. Previous GIS or remote sensing knowledge, while beneficial, is not required for acceptance. This is a multi-disciplinary opportunity for all those interested in Earth science and we encourage those in the social sciences, general science, engineering, computer science, etc. to apply.

Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Days of the week are flexible, but applicants should be able to commit to 20 – 29 hours per week during the term. The position is paid on an hourly basis that is determined by education level and working location.

We are hosting virtual “About DEVELOP” webinars on 9/6 2-3pm ET and 9/24 4-5pm ET in an effort to provide information about our capacity building program and how potential candidates can apply and participate in the program. Please see the attached flyer for details on joining these events.

Details about this opportunity and how to apply can be found online at https://appliedsciences.nasa.gov/nasadevelop. The Spring 2025 application window is open online until October 4th, with the term taking place from January 27th-April 4th. Please note some DEVELOP locations will allow for in-person opportunities while others will be completely virtual. For virtual locations, all accepted participants must work remotely from within the United States. Details on location status are posted on our website.

Additionally, if you know of decision-makers who would like to submit a NASA DEVELOP project idea, details can be found online at https://appliedsciences.nasa.gov/what-we-do/capacity-building/develop/partner. Please share this message with anyone who may be interested in these opportunities, and feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you,

Scholarship: WTBA Engineering Scholarships

WTBA awards two $5,000 Engineering Scholarships and two $3,000 Engineering Tech Scholarships each January at our Contractor-Engineer Conference.  Winners are encouraged to attend the ceremony for special recognition.

Students studying civil engineering, construction management, engineering tech, and other transportation construction-related fields are welcome to apply.

While most candidates fall into those fields of study and/or on our listed universities, colleges, and tech schools, any student who can demonstrate a clear interest in a potential career in the industry is also encouraged to apply.

Applications open Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024.  They’ll stay open until Friday, Nov. 15, 2024 but we encourage applicants to submit their forms and required documents early.  Last year, we saw double the number of typical applications.
