Scholarship: MITA Scholarship Fund

The MITA Scholarship Fund offers financial support to individuals hoping to pursue a career in the heavy construction industry.

The MITA Scholarship Fund is accepting applications for the 2026-2027 academic year! Completed applications will be accepted by MITA until April 30, 2026. Applications MUST be complete in order to be considered by the Scholarship Committee. Incomplete applications will not be given consideration.

The Scholarship Committee will consider all completed applications at their May 2026 meeting. Final decisions will be made post-meeting, and all applicants will be notified by the end of June 2026.

Please review the Application Info Sheet to be sure that you have everything you need before you submit your application. Essay talking points are outlined on the info sheet for all applicants.

By submitting your application for review, you hereby give permission to MITA to include portions of your acceptance speech, pictures or video, application and your essay in our association communications and publications.

Summer Youth Programs Staff Applications Now Open for Summer 2026

The Center for Educational Outreach is excited to announce that counselor and program support staff applications are now open for the 2026 season of Summer Youth Programs (SYP)!

Each summer, SYP welcomes more than a thousand middle and high school students to campus for an unforgettable experience filled with hands-on learning, discovery and adventure. We’re looking for college students from Michigan Tech and beyond who are excited to help create a fun, welcoming and meaningful environment for the thinkers, doers and problem-solvers of tomorrow.

A wide range of positions are available, including roles focused on youth engagement, residence life, evening programming, transportation, and daily operations. Staff begin paid training in early June, and programs will run through July 18th.

Scholarship: Environmental Engineering and Science Foundation

Are you completing an undergraduate degree program and need funding to continue your education in environmental engineering or environmental science?

The Environmental Engineering and Science Foundation (EESF) has created eleven annual scholarships for students majoring in Environmental Engineering and Environmental Science.

EESF Master’s Degree Scholarships in Environmental Engineering and Science

Eight scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each are offered to students completing undergraduate degree programs at accredited four-year institutions. Applicants must have been accepted to enter an accredited graduate program to complete a Master’s Degree either in Environmental Engineering or related field of engineering or Environmental Science or related field. These scholarships are based on academic performance.

EESF Master’s Degree Scholarships in Environmental Engineering and Science for Under-Represented Minority (URM) Students

These three scholarships are identical to those described above for Master’s degree candidates but are available to students who self-identify as American Indian/Alaska Native, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander. The URM category will include individuals who identify two or more affiliations if at least one of their affiliations is one of these groups.

Summer Internship Opportunity at Brackish Groundwater National Desalination Research Facility (BGNDRF)

The Brackish Groundwater National Desalination Research Facility (BGNDRF) in Alamogordo, NM is excited to announce summer internship applications are open. This year, there are two full-time positions, an Engineering Intern and an Administrative Intern, each spanning a 12-week period starting in mid-May or June.
