The Department of Computer Science (CS) has announced the addition of an online graduate certificate in the Foundations of Cybersecurity.
“We’re excited to offer this new certificate,” says Zhenlin Wang, chair of the CS department. “Cybersecurity skills are in great demand by virtually all employers. The online format will make it easy for working professionals and current students to add cybersecurity credentials to their professional portfolios.”
The nine credit hour program can be completed in two semesters. Students who complete the requirements will be able to identify, describe, and apply the foundational principles of securing a computer system and a computer network, and the foundational principles of secure software development.
Three courses are required for completion of the certificate: CS 5471 Computer Security; CS 4723 Network Security; and CS 5740 Trusted Software Development. Prerequisites apply.
Typically, those who have completed a BS in computer science, a BS in computer engineering, a BS in software engineering, or a minor in computer science will have completed the required prerequisites.
