Scott & Tonya (Treichel) Albers – 1998

Scott and Tonya (Treichel) Albers 1998  welcomed a son, Jonah Scott on August 28, 2010.  He and his big sister Nora, 4, are looking forward to spring so they can get outside and learn about the trees around their home.

Tonya is currently a stay-at-home mom, but is considering getting back into the field in the next few years if the right opportunity comes along.

The family lives in Medford Wisconsin. “Surrounded by the beautiful Chequamegon National Forest,” says Tonya.

Two SFRES students win World Water Day awards

The Center for Water and Society World Water Day poster competition was held Tuesday, March 22. Awards were made in two categories: Original Research (presentation of thesis or project research) and Coursework/Informational (presentation of coursework or literature-based research). Two Students from the School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science were award and recipient.

In the Original Research Category: Third place ($100): Laura Kangas , “Artificial Microtopography Facilitates Northern White Cedar (Thuja Occidentalis L.) Survival in Created Wetlands

In the Coursework/Informational Category: First place ($250): Aleta Daniels, “A Non-biased Look at Drilling for Natural Gas”
