Day: March 4, 2015

Global Grant Scholarship

The Rotary District 6220 Global Scholar Program provides $30,000 scholarship awards for graduate studies outside the USA.  Scholars must commence studies between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016 and expend the scholarship funds within 12 months of starting studies.

In anticipation of The Rotary Foundation’s (TRF) 100-year anniversary in 2017, the TRF Trustees set out to develop a plan to move the foundation toward its second century of service. The plan, called the Future Vision Plan, focuses TRF-funded programs to specific areas where they will have the greatest impact by addressing priority world needs that are presently most relevant to Rotarians.

As a result, to be eligible for a Rotary District 6220 Global Grant Scholarship, an applicant must have a background, intended graduate studies and future career plans related to at least one of the following focus areas:

  • Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution
  • Disease Prevention and Treatment
  • Water and Sanitation
  • Maternal and Child Health
  • Basic Education and Literacy
  • Economic and Community Development

Prequalification Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2015.
Further information, including the “Prequalification Application,” and additional requirements, can be found on the District 6220 website.

World Water Day Poster Competition

The Center for Water and Society invites all graduate and undergraduate students to participate in the CWS World Water Day Poster Competition. Cash prizes will be awarded in two categories, Original Research and Coursework/Informational. Please register by Friday, Mar. 6

Original Research posters can focus on any aspect of water, but Coursework/Informational posters will earn additional points if they incorporate the 2015 World Water Day theme, Water and Sustainable Development.

Other student groups which have a focus on water are also invited to either submit a poster or set up a booth at the poster session to increase awareness of their group. Email mtcws@mtu.edu by Friday if your group is interested in participating in World Water Day.

The full World Water Day schedule is available online.
