Henna tattoos and tasty iced coffee drinks for a fun afternoon
3. Magical Celebration: July 30, 1-3 pm at the MUB Commons
Lots of fun wizarding activities to prepare for Harry Potter’s Birthday!
4. Float On!: August 6, 1-3 pm at the MUB Circle
Celebrate National Root Beer Float Day with a sweet treat!

Turning Care into Action

Givepulse is an online community enabling everyone from non-profit agencies to volunteers to work together and impact the community. Not only is it an opportunity for Students to help in our community, but it’s also an opportunity for non-profit organizations and groups to reach out for help!

Pinterest Party

Join us on Monday, June 21st for a variety of fun crafts and projects- complete with lemonade and iced tea! We will have paracord bracelets and keychains, embroidery kits, birdhouses, and friendship bracelets for you to create.

Upcoming Volunteering Opportunities

Copper Country’s Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to help with their build in South Range:

Two volunteers are needed for Thursday, June 17 from 9 AM – 3 PM. Lunch will be provided. They will be working on the Ice n Water shield, porch roof, and hurricane brackets. 

On Saturday, June 19th, 5 volunteers are needed for Drywall nailers, foam board on exterior walls, finish porch roof, shingles.

On June 22 and 23, volunteers are needed to help assist with the construction of the new playground at Chassell Centennial Park. Lunch will be catered for both days. Please respond to this email if you are able to help!

You do not need to have experience in doing any of these tasks, there will be someone there showing you what will need to be done.  For Covid safety standards, Habitat is asking that all volunteers be vaccinated and be two weeks out for the safety of everyone volunteering. Husky Emergency Assistance Fund

The Husky Emergency Assistance Fund was established in 2020 to help members of our campus community who are experiencing financial hardship. All current students, faculty and staff who have incurred emergency or crisis-related expenses and can demonstrate need are welcome to apply.

The fund is supported by donations from Michigan Tech alumni and friends.

Michigan STEM Forward

Attention College of Business students! We have exciting news for you! Are you or a fellow classmate looking for an internship this upcoming summer or school year? If so, Michigan Tech has teamed up with STEM Forward to create that opportunity for you. Apply here.

What is the STEM Program?
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The program allows you to choose one of those specific categories you would be interested in and align you with a company that offers an internship in that category. Students who are interested in this program are able to choose a region in MICHIGAN they want to work in and also have a desire to live in MICHIGAN after graduation. There are both part-time and full-time internship opportunities.

WUPHD Vaccine Clinic

Volunteers are needed to assist with the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department vaccine clinic on May 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Student Development Complex.

Those interested in volunteering an hour or several hours are asked to fill out this form.

Adult Huskies Tennis Lessons

An additional session of group tennis lessons has been added to spring programming at Gates Tennis Center.

Adult Huskies Group Tennis Lessons are for ages 17 and up who are looking to learn more about the game of tennis. Each class will include technique and games to learn and develop skills that will improve their workouts and match play on their own. The next session begins May 17 and ends June 10. Registration closes May 15. Session cost (4 weeks, 1 day/week) $50. See Adult Tennis Lessons for days/times.

Camp K-day Registration is Open!

It’s that time of year again, K-Day registration time!! K-Day Registration is officially open, so reserve your spot now! Space and resources are limited, so do not delay!  This year’s theme will have you wanting s’more at Camp K-Day!  Organizations can get creative with this summer camp-themed student organization fair!

K-Day, or Keweenaw Day, is an annual tradition that will be held on Friday, September 10 beginning at noon. Students head to Chassell Centennial Park for an afternoon of food, fun, and music – it’s like a week of summer camp all in one afternoon!  K-day typically sees 3000-4000 students so this is an important recruitment opportunity for your organization.  Please have your organization’s event finalized before registering HERE.  

Keep in mind, the person you list as the primary contact for your organization’s registration will be the one receiving all communications.  They will need to keep an eye out for emails during the summer in case of any changes that are made to K-Day due to any updates we may need to make in regards to our campus Healthy and Safety Levels.

We are looking for motivated students to work in our office this summer and potentially the next school year.  You would help with our summer programs, fall planning, and day-to-day office activities like answering the phones and emails. We would like someone with leadership qualities such as good communication skills, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.  Also, someone who would represent Student Leadership & Involvement and Michigan Tech in a professional manner.  Applicants need a 2.5 minimum grade point average.  If you are interested, fill out this application!
