Scholarship: Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association (WTBA)Scholarship

WTBA opens applications for 2024 construction engineering scholarships

From learning complicated mathematics, to IT and computer skills, and understanding the precision and accuracy required to run heavy machinery – there is no shortage of challenges the transportation construction builders of thefuture face in earning their degrees.

Paying for their education shouldn’t be one of them.

It’s why today the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association (WTBA) and its WTBA of Tomorrow Board proudly opened applications for a new round of construction engineering scholarships.

Students studying civil or construction engineering, construction technology, construction management, or related programs at UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Platteville, UW-Stout, Marquette University, Milwaukee School of Engineering or Michigan Tech are eligible to apply for WTBA’s $5,000 Engineering Scholarships.

Students studying any of the above-mentioned programs at Madison College, Chippewa Valley, Mid-State, Northeastern Wisconsin, or Milwaukee Area technical colleges are eligible to apply for WTBA’s $3,000 Engineering Scholarships.

“Every year, WTBA awards scholarships to some of the brightest students in Wisconsin,” WTBA of Tomorrow Chairman Matt Golden said.  “The scholarship applications we receive illustrate the diversity of well qualified candidates, promising a great future for the transportation industry.”

In addition to filling out the online application, students must upload two (2) letters of recommendation, their most recent college transcript, and a cover letter detailing their passion for transportation construction and why they believe they are deserving of a WTBA scholarship.

In 2023, seven students won WTBA scholarships, which were awarded and celebrated during the annual Contractor-Engineer Conference in Wisconsin Dells in January.  You can hear from all of those winners here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9v5hkyekXVhJFUwwC1Fv-1kCbTcbsRFO
