At the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD), our internship and co-op programs focus on supporting and encouraging the educational ambitions of the next generation as part of our commitment to public service.
MMSD’s intern program has existed for over 25 years. The program aims to build awareness of opportunities for careers in water-related industries by exposing interns and co-op students to a hands-on learning experience to help inspire and educate them about future water-related careers.
Interns can expect paid work experience in areas such as Community Outreach, Construction, Engineering, Laboratory Services, Sustainability, and Water Quality Protection, as well as Co-op positions in Water Reclamation and Maintenance Engineering.
In addition to being exposed to jobs related to the student’s course of study, the summer intern program includes professional development training on relevant topics. The program also includes field trips designed to help students better understand the work at MMSD and its impact on the Greater Milwaukee area.
