Summer Study Abroad – Wales and Cornwall: Critical Copper Connections

This summer, I am running the Wales and Cornwall: Critical Copper Connections study abroad program. Partially subsidized by the Gilman Program, the goal of the program is to dive into the life-cycle of mining and provide some alternative career pathways for students interested in the critical mineral industry while learning about the culture, heritage, and environmental policies of Wales and Cornwall.

I designed this program with EE in mind, and students can earn up to 10 credits (3 minimum):

  • SS 4551 – Industrial Communities (Essential Education Experience)
  • SS 4710 – Geographies of Migrant Communities (Intercultural Competency)
  • SS 4600 – Industrial and Historical Archaeology (Arts and Culture)
  • PE 0175 – Hiking (Activities for Well-being and Success)

The program runs across the 7 weeks of Summer A with 3 weeks of travel.

I have an info session coming up, November 11th at 5pm in AOB 209, but I also love hearing from interested students and meeting one-on-one.

Thank you for your help in spreading the word,

Mark & Kat
