Spicer Group will be hosting an Info Session from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Monday, February 19^th, in Ballroom A-2 @ the MUB.  This info session will include food and drinks along with a brief presentation on the services provided by Spicer Group.  We will highlight projects that we have been involved with in recent years, as well as Spicer Group’s contributions to the community and employees.  Following the presentation, we will open up for discussion with students who have any questions about Spicer Group.

ASDSO invites students to enter the Student Paper Competition, open to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees at U.S. universities or colleges. We invite students to submit papers on dam and levee safety!

Topics may include traditional areas of design engineering, structural and geotechnical analysis, hydrology, hydraulics, construction, risk management and hazard mitigation, emergency action planning, dam security, and policy. In addition, case studies, emerging and innovative technologies, and senior capstone projects are encouraged.

Each winning paper will receive $500 and a travel stipend to present at Dam Safety 2018 in Seattle, WA, in September 2018. Winning papers will also be published in the annual conference proceedings. Other selected entries will be invited to participate in the Dam Safety 2018 Poster & Lightning Talk Forum. Conference registration fees will be waived for all participating students enrolled in colleges or universities in the U.S. who present a valid student ID (that’s a $1000 value!). Both US citizens and non-US citizens are eligible.

All student entries must include a 350-word (maximum) abstract, and should be submitted online. The student paper competition also requires an executive summary of at least 1,200 words. (Please note: the full paper is not due at the deadline, only the abstract and executive summary, so please send in your ideas!). I graduated from Michigan Tech in Fall 2014 from the Civil Engineering department and I am up for the Career Fair with my company Harmon Inc. We are in the Curtain Wall and Glazing Industry which is basically the glass on skyscrapers and large buildings.

We are looking for 6 Contract Project Management Interns (Locations: Atlanta and/or Orlando, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Ft. Lauderdale, Seattle ), 1 Engineering Intern (Location: Minneapolis) 1 Manufacturing intern (Location: Baltimore).  If you relocate for the internship, we will provide housing.

I have attached a job description of the manufacturing, engineering, and project management internships along with an “Internship Info” flyer. Additionally, I have attached a “Harmon Internship Experiences” document that is an excerpt from our monthly HarmonLinc that is sent out company wide.

Four out of the nine interns we had this summer were from Michigan Tech.

I personally did 3 internships as a project management intern while attending Michigan Tech with Harmon Inc. working in Baltimore, Dallas, and Cincinnati. I have now been working full time for Harmon for almost 3 years out of the Baltimore office.
