Congratulations to Rob Handler from Michigan Tech’s Department of Chemical Engineering on his appointment as Associate Director of Research for the Center for Innovation in Sustainability and Resilience (CISR)!
Rob began this role in Spring 2026 and will help lead efforts to expand the visibility and collaboration of sustainability and resilience research across campus. In partnership with CISR leadership, he will support interdisciplinary team science and strengthen community-engaged initiatives that advance both research and education.
An assistant professor of chemical engineering, Rob’s work focuses on environmental life cycle assessment methods to evaluate emerging technologies in alternative energy, materials, and manufacturing. He also advises the Green Campus Enterprise and brings valuable experience in collaborative, cross-disciplinary research. In addition, he holds affiliated appointments in Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering, as well as Social Sciences.
